I wouldn't worry about it then, more than likely it's already healed.

No, I wouldn't think so.. Odds are it was broken in the process of being bagged when caught and transfered to where ever it was that she was sent. These guy's are pretty much handled like a bunch of worms when being dealt with in the trade. Those guy's just scoop up a bunch at a time and they don't care if they are still trying to cling to something or not. You can find many in the trade that will have even missing toes.. She will be Ok. They manage just fine with this little handicap!!

I recieved this PM from a new member. I have PMd them back regarding how to post but am putting their issue up for them.

Hi I'm sorry to bother you but I can't figure out how to put a new post up yet. I have a few concerns about my iguana i was wondering if you could help. He can't seem to stay on his branches and is very lethargic. In fact he isn't moving much at all. His eyes seem ok and he seems ok in himself but he seems to be struggling to move. He's eating when we put him right next to his food but he isn't going to it himself. His colours are still normal but he is looking very skinny. This literally just came on overnight. I'm struggling to find a vet here that has had experiance with iguanas and I'm really worried about him. He's about a year old and has always been very active. Could it be MBD? His jaw and limbs are not spongy they seem fine, he just seems to be struggling to move. Please if you have any information you could share i would really appreciate it.

Hey ...Well we are going tomorrow to see what they have in store and to see how big the iggy's are, so won't know more untill then..

As soon as i have more info will post it up...

When i spoke to them on the phone on wednesday she said they have a custom built enclosure in shop that someone has brought in that they are selling but im not sure of size or any details about it as we are going in to the shop we can look for our selves.

We are planning to build our own in any case, so my hubby has a few weeks off i think at xmas so we can work better on it then.

We have been reading up and checking out all the great ones on the forum also for ideas.. getting quite exctied about building our own (^_^)

Don't worry i don't intend on ''making do'' all my animals always have the largest homes i can give them. And all will have free roam of the house at some point during the day/eveing depending on who needs what time (^_^)

I am making plans to move the ferrets also so as to not strees new iggy out with a bunch of crazy mad ferrets having playtime around his/her enclosure.

Going to put iggy in my sons room for a few weeks so as not too many people are poking in starring over the xmas hols.. dont want visitors stressing poor little guy out in his first few weeks here.

We are not rushing into this, have been trying to think of every angle to make sure things can run as smoothly as i can make them for iggy. Moving to a new home is a scary thing indeed and i want to build up a trust slowly so we can both work each other out at our own pace.

Tree branches are fine, just avoid resionous trees like cedar and pine.
Live plants are pretty much a case of banging your head against the wall. What the ig doesn't eat, it will tear up.
I am so glad to see you doing your research. So much of the time we are greeted with, " I got this iguana a while back and now its sick, how do I take care of it?"
Get you a copy of "Green Iguana: The Ultimate Owners Manual" by James Hatfield.
Best book out there!

How big is the enclosure you are looking at? The minimum size for a hatchling is a 55 gallon tank or equivalent.

 Before i buy !!

Hey guys ,

Well ive spent the whole day reading your very informative forum ;D

Ive learnt so much today just by surfing all your old posts, so thx for that.

Ok now.. my head is swimming with so much info i just want to get things clear before i go out and buy my setup for my new iggy.

Living in England can anyone give me a nice shopping list to take with me when i go to hunt down everything i need to get us going.

I have been reading your posts but as it seems there are people from all over the world on here i just want to be sure im not confusing my self with what is out there for a uk iggy.

Today i have learnt some good points that no one else has offered information on..being the point to use newspaper *note taken to save papers* and not to use a red bulb at nite as they have a light sensor on the top of there heads (this i did not know )Im finding all of this very fascinating learning all about them.

so much great info all under one roof !! ;D

I just can't get enough of reading so much good stuff.. Think im still going to be sitting here come xmas reading .. lol

My hubby and i also have found your section on housing very very useful and it is giving us some great ideas for a custom build for baby igg to grow into. As i said in my intro we plan to buy an enclosure to start off with as i plan to reuse it after baby has grown out of it for more reptiles (ive got the bug i think)

so anyway, sry for long post if you could help me with a nice shopping list that would be great !

Oh yes!! one more thing ... can i use fruit tree branches if they are soaked well ? i ask this as we have some quite big trees growing in our garden ..apple/pear.

Also when we come to build custom build can we use a live planted tree and if so what would be safe for iggy?

Ok im done for now i think ::)

 Hello Everyone!!

Hello Everyone,

Well where to start ...

I have never kept a reptile before have always had a houseful of animals though..

At present my house hold is ...

My self .. My hubby ..My son ...My daughter ..and then ...

6 year old Dalmatian (just the biggest softie ever!! loves everyone and everything)

3 cats .. Ginger tom inseparable from my daughter (age 5) .. pure white deaf tom (age 5) and little Tilly..tabby girl (wild rescue so age no known)

5 Ferrets .. 2 hob polecats /1 jill polecats /1 hob Albino/ 1 choc jill (all rescues so age unknown)

So i have been researching like a crazy woman for the last couples of mths and have a visit to what looks and feels like a good reptile shop on Friday to view some red iguanas (^_^) We have been though heaps of places already , beginning to feel like a reptile shop stalker..lol

Our plan of action is this plz feel free to comment in anyway you feel would help..

We plan to home the new baby (I'm told they are 3 mths old) in a shop brought wooden viv (you know wood sides glass front) then over Xmas start putting together a custom build for our new family member to grow into .. (hubby being a carpenter I'm expecting great things ...lol )

I will be the main carer of the new Iggy since I'm a stay at home mum and have the house to my self all day long everyday (kids are both school age).

OK so scene set .... now then...Are there any main points i should be asking the reptile keepers on Friday about the baby Iggy and Ive read some of the basics i need to look for ie..clear eyes ..clear round the mouth etc.. but if you could help me along to make sure I'm getting as healthy a baby as poss..

Sorry Ive waffled on so long :-/ Going to take a spin around the forum now and find my feet...

Thx in advance for any/all info/help ;D

The exterior looks nice, but I think the interior is a bit empty (I don't know if you're planning of adding extra climbing material?). They are realy good climbers. And it is a waste of space if he can't reach every part of the cage. I added a picture of the cage I have (just part of it because I can't get a photo of the total cage, it's to big) [image] .
