for the last couple days george has become very restless when his light goes off for the night. During the day (when im home anyways) hes acting normal but when the light goes off he moves around a lot, stand up like hes basking?...and just seems like he has a hard time falling asleep. hes eating normally, going to the bathroom regularly and nothing in his environment has changed.
any ideas?

Good. I sure wouldn't worry if you this time of year. Sometimes they just get a little "off" in the winter months.

Just a late thought on this...had you, by any chance, been feeding carrots or green beans along with his food in the past few days? The reason I ask is that these foods, if not chopped finely enough, can often cause what I can only describe as "iggy heartburn". It causes them to be restless and move around a lot at night. Just a thought. Next time your ig is doing this, try slipping something soft under his chin for him to use as a pillow...and he'll probably go right to sleep. My male ig, Herc, gets this "heartburn" fairly easily, and the pillow under the chin works wonders.

I fed him parsnip but not carrots or green beans and he already has a pillow on his basking shelf, which he absolutely loves!

The parsnips are definitely a good food choice, much better than carrots. Since its a hard vegetable though, it can still cause the "iggy heartburn" I talked about. Just make sure you're shredding it really finely.

ooooh..i didnt know that, I cut them in half and use a potato peeler and just peel it away to give it to him. I thought that was good enough but maybe not?

Those need to be run through the cheese grater. I use the grater option on the food processor for those. That's best for any hard veggies. Not only is it easier to digest, but their system can concentrate more on nutrient dispersion rather than using that energy for breaking it down first. The smaller you can get away with food size preparation - the better nutrient distribution happens...:-)

I just chop my parsnips into small enough pieces for the food processor and throw them in with the standard blade. It grinds the parsnip up into pieces a little bit bigger than grains of rice. I'm grinding up all of Audrey's food like this at the moment, just so her digestive system can move it along more easily while her spinal injury continues to heal. A good food processor is such a god-send for us ig parents.

A good food processor is such a god-send for us ig parents. You ain't just whistling Dixie, Sean!! I went through the first food processor within two weeks. It ended up cracking with the torture the squash put it through. I returned it letting them know that this one was SO not up to standard - and got one a little more expensive, but it's lasted almost two years now.
