Warning...this is a bit long but I figure the info is important.
Had a bit of an issue today. Sancho is having nothing but freak attacks where he runs around into things and is utterly going nuts and will NOT stop.
It all started this morning when I was getting him up for the morning after his lights were on. I usually give him a bath but the hubby stole all the hot water so I decided I would just hang out with him in my bed until I went to work. There we sat for a while as I pet him and we enjoyed each others company until I had to finally get ready for work.
I went and got his food and came back to my bedroom to find he was starting to get frantic, walking ever faster into the corner of the room then digging behind a big stuffed frog (not a real one obviously) into the corner for a way out I supposed. I picked him up and he seemed startled still but ok. I took him to the enclosure (my walk in closet) to set him down for some food and that's when all hell broke loose! He started smashing himself into all the walls so I stopped him in mid flight (more so attempted) he got through my now battered arms to go running out of control into the back of my desk to play dead (due to the sheer stress of his fear) which obviously terrified me cause he was inside the back of my desk where I couldn't see him and he wasn't breathing or moving. Once I got him out of the desk and held him for a few minutes I figured he was starting to come to grips so I set him on his basking shelf where he seemed to be ok. Once I was assured he was going to be ok, I closed the door and went for work.
I came home thinking "I hope he's feeling better", things go like normal, he comes down for a bite to eat (which he had apparently not done all day because the pile was untouched). He started to munch away and then he started up again, running as fast as possible around his house and finally went up his log to breath heavily and stare like he's in a trance. I stood away from him talking quietly to get him to calm down. After about 15mins I took a towel to wrap around him incase he decided to go at it again (I wanted to inspect the damage to his face) and then off he went again. So, I wrapped the towel around his legs and covered his face with part of it to block out whatever was scaring him. I then set him down in the tub because there are no sharp corners or walls to bash into but instead he started to thrash himself and his tail around and ended up "skinning" part of the tip of his tail. After which he pushed himself into the corner of the tub by the drain, under the shower curtain and up against my hand and the towel and stayed there. I didn't want him sitting under the dripping tap so, I wrapped him up snuggly in the towel after having him sit in the "dark" (he could still see but the light seemed to keep him looking at everything in a scared way so I removed the environment from him by turning off the light to the bathroom) He seemed ok with this but the water was still dripping so as I said, I wrapped him up again covering his head and making sure there wasn't too much light in my room ( I had hoped it was better there cause the afternoon edition started in his enclosure). He layed there with his head burried into my arm in the towel not bothering to move and every once in a while would peek out of the towel then dive back under, breathing every few seconds in great gasps until he was breathing semi normally again. He eventually wanted to roam so, slowly I let him but kept a close eye and didn't let him wander far. He then started ducking his head like there was something above him and started to panic again. So, once again, I wrapped him up and held him. I eventually switched him to underneath my blankets and laid him in the crest between my chest and my arm holding him snuggly and trying to assure him he was safe. He eventually fell asleep (after it being two hours since it all started) so I let him be. I just went back about a half hour ago (two and half hours from when he fell asleep) to move him to where he used to like to sleep and he was still panic stricken until I put the towel over his head and laid a pillow over his body!
What in the world could've caused this?? Has anyone else had a day long event like this? Any tips would be great cause, I'm afraid he's going to continue like this tomorrow morning. It terrifies me when I can't help him feel better. I'm so worried about him.
I seriously hope he's not like this in the morning. Any input would be great.
Thanks guys
