Ever since we bought Chester the Iguana he was doing ok with us letting us hold him, pet, him, hand, feed him and everything an Iguana owner would do but then 5 days ago he is going crazy he never bites unless he thinks my thumb is a collard green(I wear green mittens sometimes when its old)but now he gives me a mean look and even opens his mouth wide enough to see his teeth then with no hesitation he just bites me it happened twice in one day whats wrong with him?
Note:He is about 8-9 months right now Hes is about 19 inches Snout-Tail length.

How often do you handle him? Any new changes to his enviornment? You wearing any differnet gloves? He still young, basically the same size as my iguana and thats the exact same thing he does. He doesn't bite though, he just gapes his mouth open and tail whips. Just keep working with Chester because he's still a baby.

They go through many behavior and personality changes as they mature. You can avoidgetting bitby watching his eyes. His pupils will get tiny, and he will kind look crazy, that is when you want to get your hand out of the way. ;D Thats how I can tell when my youngest female is planning to nip me, she is so bad LOL

And jfogle I just love the way their eyes get smaller it makes them look really tough.

Yea, he's just being a baby lol. They tend to spaz out alot when real young. Question, are you reaching above him to pick him up? Any pics?

Usually iguanas are very angry on mating season I had many scars and bites that my family would laugh at me. Then would I do is that I bought a little plush alligator to lol you know to try to mate with it just to get it out of his system. While he is using his little sex doll I put food in there while he is distracted and then take it out it seems to work with me during mating seasons and times when Rex ( my iguana ) is having a hard time. I got pictures of it if you want to see lol.
