They're nice for extra heating, but not more lighting =) I have one. Use it for his bedtime bulb.

got the heat emitter for each cage, they really work well. the temps, at top are 92, and 75 at bottom. the only problem i'm having now is we have had one cold frunt after another with rain. leo and sam, have been off thier food not eating good for a week. their only eating about 30 to 35%. they still go for their mellons and blue berrys. iv been told this is normal. this time of year. is that true ?.

I hope so - because my 2 males have gone off eating too Elvis is eating about 30% of his normal diet - and Angel - the thinnest Ig I have and the one who has NO room to lose weight - is eating maybe 15% to 20% of his normal diet. My female is a dang PIG though! She makes up for what the males don't eat! LOL I think it's because she wasn't getting all the optimum foods before (some but not as many as she should have) and she was kind of thin in the tail and legs - not no more though! She's beefing right on up! LOL ~Nan

This time of year many male igs decrease the amount of food they eat. As long as SOMETHING is going in...there's nothing to worry about... ...even for thin igs, though the more they keep eating the better it is...we can't always control that...*sigh*.

Glad to hear it's normal - but I still worry - especially about Angel - Elvis has a bit of room to play with weight wise - but Angel really doesn't. I'm also having a hard time getting Angel to drink anything I can get the other 2 to drink from the mister - but Angel flat refuses. Even if I tug lightly on his dewlap and squirt a little in - he REFUSES to actually open his mouth to lick and swallow so I can squirt more in! What a little turd! I'm misting him and his food - but he's not really eating - so the food misting isn't doing much good except to make it rot faster - he gets bathed daily, but I'm still concerned. I know he already has some kidney damage - his eyes droop slightly, and the horrible care he had before have to have taken it's toll on him you know? So I try really hard to keep his H20 up, but w/o eating and drinking from the mister - I'm at a loss - I'm open to any suggestions! ~Nan

Got home today and leo did not eat any thing, starting to get worried. this is day 10. he ate a little mellon. He is sheading now also. The weather is still cool and wet. I put some KAYTEE juvenile iguana fotified food in a dish after his bath and he went to it and ate some. I fix his greens, veg, a little fruit and sprinkle a little KAYTEE on, mist the food and add his vitamins and bone aid on. this morning I even squeezed some mellon all over his food , that did'nt work, any ideals? .

Try getting back to basics and leve off all the extra stuff....stick with the greens and a littl mist of water .. I know Yoda will refuse food totallly if I put any vit spray or calcium on it sometimes and others he just gobbles it down...

James, tried just the greens he ate about 40 %. I gave him a little more fresh greens when i got home today with some green beans on it and he ate about 25 % of it.... It all most like he does not want to come down from the top of his new cage. I picked him up and set him down in the bottom of his cage and he just started eating.

Nanshe...you may have to get forceful with Angels food/fluid intake. Use a syringe and give about 4cc's of water daily. The food intake bothers me, too. Especially with him already being in such a state of rehabilitation.
You may need to get more foods into him than he wants. The biggest thing is fluid intake for his kidney/liver function, but close behind is his nutrient intake. Is there a favorite fruit he likes? Mixing this all over his salad may help with his eating.
Dave...I used to try to feed Zair on the floor of his cage. He wouldn't go for it. He now eats, and has been eating for a couple of years, from the top shelf...his basking shelf. I just keep it on the cooler end of the cage so it doesn't dry out to much.
