Ok I have a slimline fixture with desert lamp and 7% uvb and was just wondering when it runs out of light can I use a diffrent bulb like zoo meds and stuff like that or i have to keep using the same thing?Oh and do I remove the lens from the light or do I just keep it there?

Ah...I thought the slimline had the cover. Yes...remove it. You can change to a whole other brand. However, you won't be waiting until the thing runs out of light. It will produce light LONG after the UVB decays. Every 6 months is the recommended time frame for changing out UVB tubes. For UVB - you really need two bulbs when you use the tubes, and after a year old Chester will need the 4' length. So when you are ready to change out you may as well change to the longer tubes. And if you need to do all of that...then it would actually cost you as much money in the long run to get the best bulb on the market. The Mega Ray EB. This is a flood lamp style with amazing UVB. It's expensive at first, but you only need to change the bulb once a year. The ballast lasts about 2 yrs. After I give you the link the bulb and ballast will make more sense. www.reptileuv.comIt's a high UVB level bulb with little heat. Not to be confused with the Mega Ray SB which is a UV/heat combo. With the EB you will need an additional heat source. Check it out and see what you think. I use these exclusively on my high UVB requiring animals.
