From what I can see, it looks like it's nothing to worry about. However, I can't see the color good, or tell what the texture is like. Does the tip look like the rest of the tail or is it discolored?

The color of his tail is not as bright as the rest of him, it is fairly brighr green ,untill about half way .. it is slightly darker as it tapers . The striping order would make the tip a band or stripe so it is hard to tell , I have had him/her for a few weeks and it dosnt seem to be any darker , I have noticed the banding on the entire tail has become more promenent though. I take this as a good sign.
The Kink seems very slight ,however I am concerned .If there is anthing I can do .

Hi James, I'm Debbie amd My babies name is Bam-Bam. When we got her she had a kink in her tail and well just this past Sunday niight I had her on my sholder and when I stood up, I guess that I caught the tip of her tail under my hand and she droped about 1 1/2" of her tail right at the kink. It scared the living daylights out of us!!!!!! Needless to say, we called the vet at home and he said just to put her in her enclosure and leave her alone and she would be fine. He said that we were pobably stressing her out by us being stressed out. lol. But what he dosen't know is if we tried to put her up it would really stress her out even worse that keeping her out. Well listen to me ramble!!!!!! lol Sorry. Anyway There may have been some kind of damage done to her or his tail before you got him or her and he or she may drop it in time. So don't be surprised if it does happen. That is what our vet told us. Just trying to be of some help. PS If he/she does decide to dropit, it wont' make it any less streesful on you even if you know it might happen. Good luck and keep us all posted. Debbie Bam-Bam and Iggy.

Hi Debbie and Yoda-
Concerning dropped tails...
When an Ig drops their tail, it's a defensive maneuver to get them out of harm. In your case Debbie, it was an accident, I understand. We've had three tail drops here, for various reasons. My son almost fainted when Rambo dropped 1/2 his tail in an escape attempt. LOL. I nearly wet myself watching it. The tail is wiggling like a worm, my son has Rambo safely in his hands and he's swaying back and forth, white as a ghost, ready to pass-out. LOL I still laugh about the whole scene.
However, when a tail is dropped it's important to foolow some care procedures: Keep the area clean. Flush the "wound" with water. Soak the tail end in warm water with Providone-Iodine. Then coat the tail with triple-antibiotic and insure that their habitat is clean and feces free. The worst thing is for the end to get infected. Also, increase food and water intake for the next couple of weeks to help the Ig grow and regenerate the tail (hopefully).
Now, for the 1-2 inch tail break (or drop) it's not so critical. But when a tail break or drop occurs that is 1/3 to 1/2 the tail, these procedures are vital.

Thank you for the advise, He seems to be great otherwise as if he could care less. I am getting pretty attached to the little bugger and I just wanted to make sure that if I could do anything to help it heal if it is possible . I was concerned also about the color ,his body and limbs and head are just so bright green and so is his tail untill about half way and then it tapers slowly to more of a tan colour. I am not sure if this is natural or the kink was a contributing factor . He should be starting a shed soon so I suppose we will see. I know his temps are right and he eats all the right foods and amounts of each. He is roaming and active and pooping well ,so I suppose that is all a dad can do .
Thanks again.

Hi James- He sounds fine. Coloring sounds right. Just at the end of their tails it gets kind of dry and grey, that's normal. Don't be surprised if he loses that end piece. Rex had the very end of his tail caught in the car door about a year ago. Maybe the last inch. Well, just this month it finally fell off. Not dropped, but just cracked off. So don't be surprised if that happens. Glad to hear your getting attached to him That's so great. Who'd ever think you could love a scaley, green mini dino??? But they sure do get under your skin. Keep up the good work!!

Thanks
For what it is worth , I really appreciate the reply's
and the avice , One question I do have
Is it possible to have him out too much at a young age..?
I pretty much let him walk around the house as much as possible ...he does have a regular wake up and sleep schedule 12/12 but I genrally just let him investigate and run around ... the rest of the time . Although his enclosure is pretty decent (for the time being) I just perfer to let him goof off and do his thing, I figure he gets way more exersize this way and we get to interact allot more.
Thanks

It's ok to let him run around. There are a few considerations tho.... The humidity level isn't really appropriate. You might wanna mist him with a water bottle a few times a day. Also, the room temps aren't high enough for him, and he can't really get a decent amount of UVB. He needs a basking spot with those higher temps (around 92F) in order to digest his food. See if the 2 of you can agree on a basking spot outside his cage that has a heat lamp and UVB tube. Hopefully he will cooperate and can get the best of both worlds......

I spray him down often , and try to keep humitity up as much as possible without screwing up my gradiants . ( his glass terrarium sux for this and will be much better soon as I complete YODA'S LAIR. which will pretty much be twice as nice as the rest of my house (lol)
He wakes up at 7 am ( lights come on) usualy gets motivated about 7:30 has a poop and recieves his fresh breakfast. He genrally will bask in the cage for about two hours , he is then let out to wander and has a favorite (fake) plant he will spend some time in.
I work during the day , but my wife has him out for a good part of the day (usually 3 hours at least) and is put back in the cage to do his thing for the rest of the day untill I come home at 5pm. I genrally have him out till bedtime ( 7-8) While he is out he does have a makeshift basking area ( regular bulb) but no UVB outside the cage. I will set somthing up for uvb outside the cage asap .... (mabey above the plant (he he heh) . I know he eats well during the day and I woulld assume no prob with digestion (he poops every morning like clockwork and at least once during the day)
His energy lever is through the roof and he seems to love the attention he gets while out ...he remains really active and will come right over to me on his own to say hello and the go on tour again for a bit and usualy will end up in the plant to rest.
Thanks
Yoda /James

When Gil was much younger, he lost part of his tail. The regrowth is a grayish color, and for a while it had a funny kink where it was growing out of the normal tail. Now that it's longer, there's a "scallop" where the kink has grown out.
Yoda's tail may have broken at the very tip when he was a iglet and the kink could be a result of that break. That would also explain the difference in color.
Domnick - you said that Rex's tail had been caught in a door, and then broke off about a year later... Is the remaining part of his tail alright? I've heard that they can get dry gangrene after an injury and that it can spread to healthy tissues. It's worth checking into.

Looks great! I hope Mark takes a look. He's had a bit of trouble with his ig's tail also.
( what are the white lump looking things I see?)
