yesterday when i was trying to get my ig (Budda) out of his cage, he really had a fit. he usually does this with me (he likes my husband better), but when i went to go but him in the bath i noticed blood. my husband picked him up and saw that one of his nails was broken off. i've never had an ig before so i'm not sure how much i should be conserned. my husband's had igs before and says it should be ok and grow back on it's own. anyone have advice on this? is it ok? will it grow back? does he need to go to the vet? thanks

Don't worry everything will be okay. First of all make sure the bleeding stops. A stiptic pencil will work for this. Second, keep it clean and treat with triple antibiotic ointment. This happened to me with one of our rescues last summer and in time her nail did grow back. It took a few months but she was okay. I treated it with the ointment every day for about a week. Once the scab formed I didn't worry about it so much.

thanks! that was what my husband was thinking to do. i was so upset when it happened that i couldn't even pick him up to check him out. i still haven't forgiven myself for it. it looks like it's already scabbing up. thank you very much.
