I think using your Mom's address might work fine. She can read our posts and hopefully understand.
What kind of shot does your vet want to give Zeke?
James and Prism are on target in asking how Zeke's doing and what kind of care are you able to give him now.
Please fill us in some more.

Nance - I'm not positive, but I thought the $90.00 for the vet, was the exam ($50.00) and the euthanizia shot ($40.00)? I could be wrong though, I was tired when I originally read it. However if the sister would give her the $90.00 - or even the $40.00 for the exam, that would help Zeke out a lot! I just don't see that happening though I would be able to send along a little bit of money as soon as I get paid - which should be in a couple of days, I wish it were sooner But I had a lot of "extra" Ig expenses this month. Using Mom's address is a great idea! I too am curious about Zeke, we haven't had an update for a couple of days. The idea about taking a lamp out to shine down on him was an EXCELLENT idea!! A great way to enable him to continue to get some much needed UVB! ~Nan

Well it doesn't seem like he wants to eat lately.. at all.. I gave him more greens, and had to put them in his mouth and then he slowly swallowed them.. And I again had to feed him through the suringe.. I did really slow, and not alot, but he spit alot of it up after a minute or so.. So I tried again and it stayed down that time..
He doesn't seem to have any energy lately either..

Melissa, when you open his mouth to feed him, what color is the inside of his mouth? Is it pink or more of an off-white color?

Dang! I thought I was going to have a significant amount of extra money for Zeke, could even have sent the whole $90 if necessary, but a big sale I was counting on went south , so I'm unable to donate more than a modest amount now. What is the consensus here? Shall we just help Melissa the best we can or find a way to get the money for a vet visit. What does a vet say about MBD that we can't say and advise. I've never had to ask a vet that question yet.

Pink is good......
If your iggy is regugitating food at all...(throwing up...) I would suggest blending the foods to a liquid ....stain it after if you need to ....once he will hold liquid down no problem for a few days ...slowly introduce a thicker mixture..... dont try to rush solids into his system....

Yup, pink inside Zeke's mouth is definitely a good thing. Just keep doing what you're doing and try pureeing his food a little more like James said. Do you have a way of checking his body temperature? Make sure you add about 5 degrees to the normal temperature range, since he's sick, he'll need to be kept a little warmer than usual. It sounds like you're doing the right thing for him, just keep at it. ;D What kinds of things are you feeding him now?

Okay, well I'm relieved..
Well its kinda hard to be feeding him the specific foods he needs.. But I've been feeding him green beans, dandelion greens, a LITTLE bit of lettuce, apples and some mashed up pears/cantaloupe etc..
When we get groceries next I'm going to demand dad buy some collard greens.. and some butternut squash.. and if he refuses again, I'll scrounge up some money.. I've been saving my lunch money for Zeke, incase this happens..
But what other inexpensive veggies should i get him that will help his appetite ?

My little guy likes Cilantro. It comes in a small bunches like parsley or watercress. it's NOT a staple for our igs but it smells good, and Willie loves it. Might help Zeke's appetite. I can get a good bunch here for 44c.
Good luck!

Well I can't get a large variety of different veggies at the grocery store.. but what kinds of leafy greens etc and fruits does Zeke need most right now?
-Melssa&Zeke-
P.S. I think my sister is getting a new light on Friday when she gets paid.. But today Dad was talking about giving Zeke away to a school that has pets in their classroom.. The only way I'll do that is if Zeke gets too sick for me to look after him, and they'll (hopefully) nurture him back to health, or if they pry him from my fingers! I love that ig!

Yup, Cilantro, Ca : P 4.00:1 and Parsley, Ca : P 3.25:1, are good sources of calcium. Try some Papaya too, if you can get it, 4.50:1, and its tasty for you as well as Zeke. Zeke will love Papaya in his diet, its high in calcium, tasty, and easy for him to eat.

Do everything you can to keep him from being given away as a "classroom pet". I know from experience that that is the WORST possible place for him to be right now, he needs his new mommy, not a bunch of strangers who don't have the first clue about how to take care of him. He needs YOU, Melissa.

I agree with Ig King 150%!! Please try to keep your dad from giving Zeke to a classroom! Odds are they will not know how to take care of him, and he'll get stressed from the move AND all the extra "attention" from strangers he doesn't know - stress is NOT what Zeke needs right now. You are donig an excellent job Melissa! Great idea about saving your lunch money! I didn't think of that one! You're going to get Zeke back into top health yet! Have you talked to your mom about the blender and us sending supplies to her address yet? The sooner we know, the sooner we can get him what he needs It would be awesome if your sister bought him the UVB light! It would open that amount of money up here to send him something else he needs - please let us know as soon as you know ok? Also, if your sister gets a UVB TUBE, you'll also need the fixture It can't be one of the cheap ones from Wal-Mart (I think Wal-Mart is in Canada too?) though, it needs to be one that does NOT diffuse - I made that mistake and the bulb only lit on the ends LOL. Anyway, here, for the bulb AND fixture, it's about $40.00 to $45.00 total - I hope she's willing to spend that - if not, and we can get an address, I'll still send him one, and Prism will send the fixture. Keep up the excellent work! ~Nan

Things are looking up Melissa. What a wonderful little warrior you are for Zeke.
I agree with Iguana King and Nanshe. I imagine your Dad thought he had found a solution that would please everyone and be good for Zeke to. It was kind of him, but Zeke wouldn't survive. .... kids struggling to touch him etc, feed him, pick him up and so on. All the commotion! I hope they can never pry him from your fingers. NO!
This is not for your Dad's eyes, but what if they put him in a tank in school and all the kids came around to see a real live cop. pat him, try on his cap, feel his muscles, etc. It would be HELL. So it would be for Zeke.
Honey, I see Nanshe and Prism have your light and fixture taken care of, if need be. I'll do the same with a blender. Heat will be easy with a regular bulb, but you will still need to mist him several times a day. Let us know what you and your family are able to provide and we'll try to fill in the rest.
Take care, Melissa. I love your Spirit and Devotion to Zeke. You will be rewarded by his love many times over.
Nancy
