My mind is still boggled on this. I have a 160 watt PowerSun and i think to do the right thing I need to add a fluorescent Reptisun 5.0 tube. I think Tesa is our expert here. I do know it's smart to shop for price. I hope you don't buy w/o doing that. I'll send you my PowewrSun if you want. It's about 3 days old. Not new. Wouldn't that help with Customs. value about $5.00 for Customs. I learned this as I sell on ebay. An Aussie who bought something from me educated me about customs.

I am absolutely NOT an expert! I don't know a thing about Merc vapors. The best I can do for ya here is to give you some info from the previously mentioned article written by Bob MacCarger.
"Self-ballasted MV lamps suffer from a 50% failure rate over the first 6 months and a 70% decay rate in total UV-B emitted. The best-selling style MV bulb, the 160 watt FLOOD, emits much less UV-B than stated on their endorsements after decay. These bulbs settle in at about 12 µW/cm2 (microwatts per square inch) at 12"....."MV lamps emit less total UV-B than fluorescents — but more “usable” UV. Studies have shown that MV lamps produce the same percentages of D-UV (and UV-A, which is another subject) as a percent of total energy emitted as the sun."
also:
"At this time I recommend only 100- and 160-watt T-Rex UV Heat, 160-watt ZooMed Powersun, and the Westron Lighting 60-watt in-line ballast MV lamps. Others performed poorly in my tests."
So...evidently, the Merc Vapors "can" be a bit more effective "when" they are working....I guess..... I'm gonna stick with my 5.0 tubes! lol
