Hey guys...are those the shadow of hemipenal bulges?
And I can honestly say that I don't think I have ever seen an iguana with a tail the color that Doobie's is.
There are some pretty good sized temporal lobes (brain bumps), too. The jowls aren't excessively large though. I'm still saying this is a manly lizard.

Ok I guess the original question that brought this up goes then. do ALL males go into breeding aggression? and if so at what age? Doobie is a sweet Ig. though lately doing a i want OUT thing. got out of the cage once and i don't have a clue. like did magic thru the mesh. goad. no idea. been getting a time where i can open the door and let doobie out of the cage to roam. :-) you can email me also sierraflowr@gmail.com Rebecca

oh is there a better picture i can get to make sure? or is it the bumps on the head as averse to smooth? Doobie is at least 4-5 or older.. my son and i were trying to figure that out lol i thought the jowls and flap in front (ok brain dead) should be bigger?
is there some specific action a female would eventually do? or a male?

Did you check out the "brain bumps" visual? This compares the male to female. The temporal lobes will be fatty deposits on the top of the head right in front of the spikes...the female will be flat. I see those on Doobie.
Males don't always get aggressive during breeding season. Many do, but many don't either. Mine does not. He gets a little more active and his appetite slows down, but for the most part there is little change.

One behavior that helps to distinguish the difference...head-bobbing. Males do a lot more head-bobbing than females. A male will head-bob quite regularly, a female will rarely head-bob, if at all. There's very little change in Hercules during breeding season as well...but he does have his days where he's pretty dangerous. On those days I just keep a broom handy to protect myself if he charges me. In case you need to use that method, just remember, I only use the broom to block him from making contact with me. If you use the broom as an offensive weapon, it will only make the situation worse.
