Well, I've been a member here for about 15 days now, so I thought it was time to introduce myself and my ig...
I'm Steph, and I'm from California. I live in the middle of the middle... 2 hours from Sacramento, 2 hours from Fresno, 2 hours from San Francisco/Bay Area, 2 hours from Yosemite. It's really an awesome place to live. I have fresh greens for Gil year 'round.
Speaking of Gil... He's a baby. We bought him in August of 2002 because my son wanted him. Well, you know how that goes, and about 3 months later, he was complaining about having to care for Gil (he hadn't even named him yet).
I told him to find someone to take him. There was a kid from his school who wanted to buy him, but could never get any money together. In the mean time, I'M taking care of him... and falling in love. I told my son that I'd take the iguana. To which he replied, "then you owe me $40.00." I must admit, he had saved up his money to buy the enclosure, furniture, heat and light fixtures; he had at least $200 invested in this pet. I however, promptly reminded him WHO was doing daily care, WHO took Gil to the vet and PAID for it... and then told my son that by MY calculations, HE owed ME $5.00. The other suggestion was that Gil could be a "family" pet. Of course, Alex decided that Gil could be a family pet. ;D A mom's gotta have a strategy!
So I figure Gil hatched around the middle of June, 2002. We bought him on August 17, so that's when we celebrate his birthday.
Here he is the day after we brought him home.

The last time I measured him was November 8, and he was 11" SVL, 39" TL, 2.5 lbs (appx), and I figure he's about 1 year and 5 months old.
He lives in a 250 gallon tank. NO... not ideal, but FREE, and he is still a baby. (he spends lots of time out). The tank is 7 feet long and if the cat walks too close to it, he runs from one end of it to the other pausing to head bob at her. He loves to chase her!
Here's a real recent pic of him
