Hello All I am Gary my wife is Kim we have had Iguanas for about 6 years. We started with one and now have 5. (maybe 6 in two weeks there is an iguana on EBay right now I had to bid on) We have a bad habit of finding Iguanas nobody wants and taking them in. We have taken the closet in our computer room and converted into a HUGE habitat with screen doors. 12 feet long X 3feet wide X 8feet tall. Right now there is little aggression between them but we are sure in the next year the habitat will have to be split down the middle . And maybe a totally separate habitat as well. We loved seeing all the pics of the beasts you all have

Hi Swampking, welcome to IZ! Sounds like youve got your hands full then! We anxiously await your pictures! The general opinion round her on keeping several igs, is to house them separatley. Splitting the viv may be a good idea. Many people dont beleive igs can be fully trusted together (even the most placid igs), although it would be nice to have a whole hareem of them its not really a good idea as Im sure you are realising if theyre getting aggressive!. Grrr, iguanas on ebay thats awful!! Kerry.

Hi Gary (and Kim) ! I'm glad you found us. I assume that with 6 yrs experience, you already know what they need in the way of diet and lighting, so I won't even go into the normal battery of questions on that. ;D So........ Welcome to IZ! Please make yourself at home, post as often as you like, and share pics and knowledge wherever you can.

HI Gary and Kim, hehehe join the iguana zone...I also have 5 beautiful igs tho unfortunately I dont have a huge room habitat, but they are comfortable intheir enclosures...yep you will probably have to split your room in half if the aggression continues...they can cause a multitude of damage to each other...What kind of lighting set ups do you have? and climbing ramps...any pics...we love to see pics....some day when I get rid of my kids (there are 7 of them) I can use a room to house my babies...but I enjoy them in my living room and kitchen area...glad to have you here...happy posting...Lyn

Welcome to IZ. You know...it is illegal to sell live animals on ebay. I usually send and e-mail to the seller and then report it to ebay. Usually I have gotten the response from the seller of "I didn't intend on selling it on e-bay. I just needed help and I knew I would get a response." It really sounds like you have your hands full! I am also waiting for my two-legged children to move out. Poor kids...lol. BUT...I would be able to do more rescue/rehab if I had an extra room. I am not a rescue facility...just belong to the local humane society. The igs are generally seperate from the HS because they are an exotic and can get costly. Our HS doesn't have a lot of $$... I take these in personally and care for them. I'm looking forward to your posts...and more pics!

Just to be clear I do not agree an Iguana should be on Ebay. But I only live a few miles from the guy and would rather we get him then somebody that might not know what they are doing. Right now all of our Iguanas are so different in size that they all get along.....but it will not last. if it was up to me we would not have so many but I can not just leave an Iguana in bad care if somebody offers me one I take it. We feed them the Iguana Salad from MK site. We have basking lights and UVA /UVB lighting. They have real dead trees in the habitat for climbing. We have spent years researching the very best way to raise Iguanas. All the stuff that should be done is done. Pics will be soon.

Yeah of course, like you say if your nearby its best you get the ig than some one who is just browsing and impulse buys knowing nothing about them! Just a shame that some one would try and sell a live animal on ebay

I agree if you’re Closer then yes I am 200 miles away But if you’re that close it would be in the best interest of the iggy and I do not care about the enclosures either heck I have enclosures i was thinking about the iguana. There should be something in the rules that no animals can be auctioned off i believe there is I know you can not auction off alcohol on there or food

Patrick...there is a rule for no live animals on e-bay, but he's skirting around that by offering the iguana for free. He's only selling the cage and accessories.
