Hey everyone. I'm Melissa. I just thought iI would introduce myself. I'm 27 yo and Live in Florida. I have 5 boys, 1 chihuahua, 2 cats, some fish, a hermit crab and my newest addition is Diego, my Iguana. he is just a baby still. I kinda inherited him. he was given to a family member by a TEACHER of all things and my mom decided she was gonna set him lose in the yard. so I took him. when I got him he was eating nothing but greenbeans, yams and onions and living in a 10 gallon fish tank that wasn't being cleaned and he wasnt being handled. he now is eating lots of greens and his favorite fruits are papaya and bananas, he is now living in a 3'x3'x2' cage. I know thats gonna be to small within the next year but the cage was given to me and since we are moving as soon as our house is built then I wont buy him a new one. in the new house we are having a plexiglass enclosure installed in the living room for him and he will have free roam of the den when he gets a littel bigger. hmmm, I thinks thats it for now. any questions? LOL

Hi Melissa. It's unreal to me how TEACHERS can be so incredibly dense about the care thier critters are supposed to receive! I'm glad you got your hands on the little guy! It sounds like you are getting him all fixed up and he'll have a long happy life. Please post any questions that arise. Hopefully we can help. Welcome to IZ! (one question: Does he have a florescent UVB tube...or exposure to natural sunlight?)

he actually has both. I had a UVB but found out that it wasnt strong enough so I bought him a new one, but we go outside for about an hour everyday. as a matter of fact, we are just hedding out now. lol

I had a feeling I didn't need to ask about the UVB. ;D I love it when people (like yourself) put forth the effort to take proper care of these little green guys.
