TEXTTEXTHi! My name is Melissa and I am 18. I live in Illinois and I currently live with my fiance`, our gecko, and our newest addition, Lilly, our iguana. She isn't all that new I guess you could say, she is actually almost close to a year old. We recently built her a bigger tank, because she wasn't growing in the one that she was in. Now she is in a 6x4x3. For some reason she still isn't growing, but the pet store I got her from keeps telling me not to worry. Lilly is about 24in long. When I bought her she was 16in. Lilly is about 1 maybe 2inches in diameter. She is very lovable and doesn't give me or Daniel *my fiance`* any problems. In 4 months Daniel and I will be adding a new addition to our family.. I know that Lilly will be very timid, but I think she will be ok with the new addition, although she may get slightly jealous, I am sure if we reward her for good behavior she will do just fine. But back to what I was saying before, I am not really all too sure as to why Lilly isn't growing. If anyone has any ideas please contact me. Thanks, Melissa

Hi, welcome! Glad you found us Lilly's a really nice name, have you got any pics of her? I think the idea that animals and fish only grow to the size of the tank is a myth, and I dont think the people at the pet store sound like they know what theyre talking about. Have you had her the whole year or have you only just got her? Could it be that your just not noticing her grow or are you measuring her lots etc? I dont know much about the medical side of it, other people will be able to advise you better. Howevert it sounds to me like there may be something wrong and you should maybe get her checked out, even if its just for peace fo mind. Have you got a good herp vet? If you could tell us a bit more about her set up Im sure some one can help and give you good advise as to what to do, and maybe even a good vet near you.

Hi Melissa Kerry is right. You can't pay any attention to pet shop people. Their only concern is making a sale. Almost all of them give wrong information. If Lilly isn't growing, there is definately a physical illness present. Most often illness happens because there is something lacking in her environment. That being said, if you would answer the following questions, we'll be able to help you adjust your setup to get her healthy. What kind of lighting does she have? What are the temps in the cage? (at the basking spot and at the coolest place) What does she eat and how often? What are you using for substrate? (the stuff on the floor of her house) Does she poop every day? Do you ever see her drink water? I'll stop for now. ;D A new addition to the family eh? I'm assuming you mean a new lil human? Congratulations! When's your due date? Have you had an ultrasound? Before the baby comes we have to talk about the risk of Salmonella, so please stay in touch with us here. I'm glad you found us and want to try and help Lilly! Welcome to IZ!!
