Hey! We all know what it's like to get excited about poop. ;D He sure doesn't seem to be NEARLY as aggressive as we first thought! Maybe he just needed someone more compassionate to interact with. Good catch on the misting/calming thing btw ... You are already a super ig mom!

Oh man! I can totally identify with being excited over the "poopies" LOL I STILL get excited over it! I sit in the bathroom with them while they "go" and talk to them encouragingly - and afterwards, we always snuggle for about 30 to 45 minutes - they seem to like that. My male HATES the water and has figured out that the quicker he poops, the quicker he gets out from under that horrible wet stuff!
Puppy is SOOO lucky to have you and your son to look after him! You guys are doing an awesome job and I'm positive Puppy will start to thrive and grow like a weed under the excellent conditions you are keeping him!
Would love to see some photos!
Keep up the excellent work!

We finally got the basking shelves in and let me brag just a sec on my brother, he RAWKS!!!! I've taken a whole roll of pictures so hopefully by the end of the week I'll have some of them scanned and on my photo profile, I'll put the link in here. Oh yea I stapled my hand tho, lol silly me!
My co-worker came by today. She used to rescue iguanas. She took a look at him and told me he is very skinny, he has a lot of excess loose skin and that place on his side and leg are a very bad burn but she says it looks pretty old and it is healing but there is deep scarring. She said not to put anything on it cuz at this point it just needs to shed off naturally. His bones are strong, solid jaw, all toes look good, so hopefully he'll start putting on some weight soon. He certainly eats more than I thought he would. She said he looks to be about 2 1/2 years old but he may be a bit older since malnutrition would hide his age.
He's allowing my son and I to pet him more but he still is stand offish. I had him out on the harness today and a car making noise scared him so he went into death rolls and then didn't want to calm down. I finally had to put him in his carrier which he hates so he's very angry with me right now. KIDS!!!! lolol
My friend also suggested that I polyurithane (sp?) the inside of the eclosure. Any thoughts on this?

Hi, cute name for an ig! Im also allergic to all things fluffy, which is how I got in to reptiles! So glad I did though my ig is great. When people ask if I have any pets and I say yeah an ig and a snake it opens up a whole conversation, much more thn if I answered yeah a cat! lol! Ive also got a few fish too.

awwwww he's a doll! So much for "extremely aggressive" lol (but he could still get that way so don't let your guard down) Ya'll did an awesome job on the cage. Ya think your brother could come my way and help me with a new one for my middle "child"? Man...those burns look NASTY! I can't see well enough to judge how deep they go, but I think I'd still be putting meds on them.

Yea they are bad since he's on a better diet he's gotten bright green (even has orange appearing in his face) and those burn are shedding off already, a real large thick piece fell off yesterday but dang his skin is so smooth n white and looks paperthin underneath BUT he does not seem to be in pain by them. I had a very good night with him last night, held him without a struggle and petted him a lot. I was trying not to laugh and startle him cuz when I would talk to him he'd watch my mouth and cock his head to one side then the other looking like he was really trying to understand what I was saying, hehehe Is there a link that yall may have that describes the iguana anatomy from top to bottom? I'd like to know the terms and purposes of what is what.

Polyeurothane: 3-4 coats...dry...then air for about 3 days for the fumes to dissapate. Keeps uglies from soaking into the wood and the growth of bacterias. Also makes for an easier clean when wiping down snalt and poop painting. Looking at your pics now. Poor burnt baby...

Good news about that boo boo, I'm guessing with the misting and the better diet most of it has come off now, even the worst part on his leg is lifting and trying to come off!! I'm SO relieved!!
