I think that moving his lights to where HE is normally laying is a very good idea. Much simpler than trying to rearrange his habits! He is getting no UV at all thru the glass and the window screen is also shading out a lot of the UV. Unless things get changed MBD is a real concern. Most iguana owners, unless they just are rolling in money, have resorted to building their own enclosures. The commercial cages on the market that would be large enough are ridiculous in price. I spent about 300 dollars in building Zoks and it is fully enclosed with Plexi glass doors. Take a look at what Mark (Mar) built with pvc. . Merlin, Thank you again for all of the suggestions! We are busy at work around here trying to come up with ideas. I think I have the light problem solved for now. We will see how it goes. BTW, BULL Ate carrots for the first time yesterday! I grated them up and fed it to him by itself (if its something new he will pick through his food and only eat his favorite). He was so funny to watch. He looked at it ...looked at me ...looked at it ...looked at me. AND THEN he finally tried some. he kept going back for more and then stopped and looked at me like "am I allowed to have this?" It was funny. I even got a pic with his head cocked to the side looking at me with a piece of carrot stuck to the side of his face! My buddy Iggy, BULL (Sorry about the blur I am learning a new camera)

LOL There are a lot of really nice cage plans out there on the internet, that actually don't take up that much floor space. Have you looked at www.lizardcages.com yet? They have a couple of great plans that are expandalbe later on Best of luck to you! ~Nan Nanshe, I do not remember seeing that one! I will deffinetly go take a look at it. Thank you Ya know...I think he knows I am looking for a cage for him...he is giving me really stange looks right now

Just a suggestion. While carrots add good color to the diet...it's not real nutritional. If you'd like color AND nutrition...try one of the winter squashes like acorn squash, or summer squash. Pumpkin is VERY good and yam or sweet potato are good additives, too.
You can grate them skin and all. The skin has a ton of nutrients.

Or: I didn't like hand grating all the hard veggies. (or my knuckles) I bought a little food processor from WalMart for 10 bucks and run all of the veggies thru it. eassssssssy
