One thing to keep in mind here and it must have slipped my mind. If you're killing off those microorganisms you will be killing the ones used for proper digestion, too. you will need to add something back in the diet to boost the gut flora back up to proper levels. Here's a list of things things used here in the states: 1. Nutribac - specifically for herps (many pet stores, online) 2. Benebac - Made for birds - approved for reptiles (pet stores, online) 3. Nature Zone Essential Probiotics - specifically for reptiles (online - www.bigappleherp.com ) 4. Acidophilus Tablets - Human health food store

meaning he wont eat unless you hand feed it to him? that could just be him wanting you to pay more attention to him. i'd just leave it in his food dish and let him get it on his own. are you keeping him on one level? or are you making him climb a lot? if he got an amputation, he needs to be on one level so he doesnt tear stitches and get an infection.

I would go ahead and keep feeding him untill he gets all his strength back, then start putting his food in his dish and once he is hungry enough he will eat. But maybe he does just want your attention?
