Thats because it IS! You have several issues that need to be addressed immediately! First off the correct temperature is vital. Get a good digital thermometer! You have to know exactly what the temp is and 70 is way too cold! That is the bottom of the acceptable range for NIGHT time You need an ambient temperature in the 80s with a basking area of 95 degrees. This is going to be virtually impossible to do in that small of enclosure. Halogen bulbs provide only light and heat, not the essential UVB lighting which they need to survive. Without it the ig will sicken and die. If by bird cage you are talking about a barred, open air cage, thats no good. All your heat will escape out into the room. Judging from your description of the ig and the housing its a pretty good bet the ig has a severe respiratory infection and needs to both see a vet NOW as well as having the husbandry issues corrected.

OH BOY!!!!!!!!!!! You have alot of reading and work to do. These are high maintanence reptiles, how much research did you do before you got your Ig? Or did you get your info from the store employee? Im not trying to be rude Im just curious. Unfortunately most store employees know very little about the reptiles that they sell. You will find all your answers on this forum if you take the time to read.

Also if you do not get your Ig to a vet, you wont need to worry about a new cage, or heat. A respritory infection left untreated will kill your Ig, it will not go away on its own.

What do you mean nothing you can do? For the respiritory infection? Proper heat? Proper lights? What are you refering to?
Jennifer is right - these are very high aintenance animals. If you cannot provide what's needed...you may want to think of finding a rescue center for it...if you have one that can take it in.

I agree with prism. If there is nothing you can do for your Ig, the most responsible thing would be to try to locate a rescue. If you can give us your general location, maybe we can help you locate something close to you, now if you are not in the U.S. I dont know how to help.
