this morning i put ben into the bath, and after about 5 minutes of just lounging, he took the biggest poop i've ever seen him do. it was about half an inch in diameter, and about 5 inches long. and there was a LOT of white with it too. so i drained the tub, and the white had like 3 very very large hard clumps in it. i haven't been able to be around him every day like i used to be able to, and my ex was taking care of him. anyone know what this might have been from? he's never pooped like that before.

I have read from other members that some times their Ig will not deficate when their normal care taker is absent, so maybe he was holding it for you ;D. Was there a new food added to his diet recently?

It's possible he was a bit clogged up and didn't let go of all of it all the time. It really depends on what's going in and how much is coming out and how often. Like jfogle said Ben could've been holding onto it until he got back to you where he was comfortable again and just let is all out. The urates having hard clumps in it could've meant he was/is a bit dehydrated...try spraying his meal everyday during the drier months of the winter, this will also help pass the food within him. Along with the question of new items to his diet, was he off the good temperatures or basking spot for a long period of time? If the temperatures drop for a long duration (ie. moving, burnt out bulb or whatever else) it will slow down digestion but if an iguana keeps eating the food will build up and like you experienced, a larger than normal poop is likely to arrive. It could be a great many different things. But the main thing I would be concerned with is the hard clumps in the urates...definitely wanna get a bit more hydration going into the tummy and just monitor Ben's defecations and if they return to normal I wouldn't think there was anything serious behind it. Sancho surprises me some days even!
