So, I had Aiden and Clifford in a cage together. Only for a day or two, and I sepperated them out again. Everything was fine but Aiden started rubbing his nose on the cage more and more and his nose is almost gone! So I left him out of the cage most of the time. well, I guess Aiden and Clifford met again outside of the cage and Clifford tore Aiden up a little bit. Nothing that I'm sure won't heal but I want to know what the best way to prevent infection is and if I should do anything else? I'm giving him a bath now with some betadine to help. Anything else I can do?

You can use neosporin as well. I wouldnt let them interact any more. How bad are the injuries?

Yeah I know. I think Aiden's upset with me because I brought Clifford into the same room. I'm hoping he stops the nose rubbing. Thank's I'll deffinatly get some neosporin The injuries arn't too bad. His tail has some gashes in them but it's not bleeding anymore and there's not more then 5 drops of blood in the cage. There's one that might be a problem but I'm sure it'll be ok as long as I take care of it. Maybe I'll take some pics after he gets done his bath...

Ok definately keep an eye on the wounds, keep doing the betadine soaks and neosporin for until scabs form. As for his nose swab it with betadine and just a tiny bit of neosporin, if you see him licking it stop using it. Aiden may be stressed because there is another male ig in the house.

Having two males in the same house is often a bad idea - especially if there are already issues and it's breeding season. Even in the same house but placed at opposite ends can create friction. They CAN scent each other.
Do you have only one cage? What is it made of that Aiden is rubbing his nose so badly on?
Hun - in my experienced opinion - and trust me...this is experience...find one another home. You'll do neither one any good if their stress levels are constantly being challenged by the scent of the other.

And having the scent of one of them on YOU could lead to YOU being attacked! This is a dangerous situation!

But they were fine for a year... I don't know what to do... I can't possibly choose which one to get rid of... I have two cages, they have their own cage... it's PVC coated plastic wire... it's spaced wide apart he just rubs so hard... how do you decide which one of your babies to get rid of?

Its a hard situation, and its up to you on what you want to do. You can wait it out and see. But as stated it can become extremely dangerous. Since they are both males they will always be in competion. But honestly you need to think about what is best for your babies, and put your feelings aside. I have no advice on how to choose. How are the wounds healing up?

I chose. I chose the life of the female who was being shredded by Zair. They lived fine together for well over a year. It was a hard choice, but not one I regret. I guess it helps that I do rescue work and understand I cannot keep everything I take in, even when getting attached is a danger. I was very attached to Icecube. She was my first serious iguana rescue and rehab patient. That was a lot of heart and soul put into getting her better and socialized. It was the better thing to do. I'm glad I did. She's much better off now.

Just wondering how things are going with rehoming Aiden? How is he healing up? I saw your ad on Craigslist, I guess we live in the same area. It very hard to rehome Igs in our area.

I think its hard to rehome larger igs in any area. At least to qualified homes!

No good. someone was going to take a look at him but never showed. I even posted up on a rescue site to give him away for free to a good home with experience. I'm having no luck and he's getting worse..
