We have a 2 year old iguana. For the last five days, she has not eaten, drinken, or pooped. She lays under her heat lamps (regular 75 watts bulbs). She has become lifeless. Her body color is still fine, however, her head is turning white. We have been spraying her with water and putting her in the shower, but with help. Any advise?

Welcome to IZ! You need to take your Iguana to the vet imediately. It sounds bad. But if you could tell us everything about the care you have been providing we may be able to figure out some possibilities of what is wrong and why, but your Ig still needs to see a vet asap before it is too late. Tell us about diet enclosure- size what it is made out of temps- cool side, warm side, basking area Uvb lighting- do you have it, what type and how old is it Any other symptoms? Do you have a picture of your Ig you can post? Please get it to the vet.

I was also going to say that I have my iggy under a 150 watt during the winter, 100 during the summer... maybe it's too cold and she doesn't want to move out from under it...

We have a large fish tank as the base and a wire cage built on top. We have two heat lamps (75 watts) on top and a heat pad in one of the corners (under the glass). After reading through your sight realized we needed a UVB lamp. We feed her kale, mustard greens and a bite of banana as a treat every once in a while. We have putting a "blanket" over her at night. Her cage is in our bedroom, which tends to be cool. She is becoming more and more limp. I have a picture of Cera and her cage, but not sure how to post.

Your diet is extremely inadequate. Kale should only be fed occasionally, and mustard greens need to be fed with other greens such as collard, turnip, and dandilion. Veggies like green beans snap peas and bell peppers should be fed as well. Here is a link to a food chart www.greenigsociety.org/foodchart.htm. You really need to build a much larger cage that is enclosed it will hold heat and humidty. Keep and eye out for jerky movements that look like seizures. Are the whites of the eyes yellowish? What is your Igs skin color like, please be specific. You need to tak your Ig to the vet, as I said it sounds really bad, and with everything you told me about the care and no UVB source, I dont know that your Ig is going to recover. I could be wrong. Is your Igs jaw solid or soft? Do the arms and legs appear swollen and feel hard?

How long have you had your iguana. This sounds like MBD and most likely is since she's not had any UVB source. This depends on how long she's been without it, though. Her diet does need a serious revamp. Jenn has touched on it, but she needs high quality foods and a variety of them at once. Bananas are a big no-no for regular treats. Until she gets better you need to stop them altogether.
