I am possibly getting an iguana and I live in a basement that doesnt really get any sunlight through the windows. Does an iguana need natural sunlight or will a UV lamp and heat lamp suffice? I would of course take her outside and such daily, assuming the weather is good for vit D, Im more worried about winters.

Your Iguana needs a good source of UVB light which is artificial sunlight in a bulb. It helps Iguanas absorb calcium to avoid the serious illness of Metabloic Bone Disease. UVA is emitted from any standard bulb and is used to aid in heating as well as lighting. www.anapsid.org/iguana/index.htmlThis link will help explain what MBD is and how to properly care for you Iguana to avoid it.
