Hi Jenna- It's OK for now. Your Ig seems to be doing well. You must make her understand that the Ig needs to see a vet at least once a year. It's a small investment for keeping such an exotic pet. To check for parasites, take fresh poop, seal it in a baggie and drop it off at the Vet's office for testing. It should only cost $20 or so. Then you can be sure the Ig is OK inside. If it's the best your Mom can do right now, it will be enough. If the Ig gets sich, the vet bills will skyrocket on you. It more preventative than anything else. But, don't worry. The best you can do for your Ig right now is read. Yes, read. Anything and everything you can find. The book: Iguanas for Dummies, by Melissa Kaplan is a great bargain and will cover most everything you need to know. Read all the care information you can. Here's a great resource to use: www.greenigsociety.org. Read everything there. The best situation for you and the Ig is to be aware and prepared for anything that may come up. Until you can convince your Mom, your Ig will be fine. Keep posting here and telling us how things are going. If we see a problem, we can advise at that point.

Go easy on Mom hun. She prolly doesn't love AJ like you do, so she can't understand. Just wait till she falls in love with him too. ;D Like Dom said, The vet doesn't have to see AJ to check for worms....just drop off the poop and have the vet look at it. (It needs to be refigerated until you go) My vet charges 12 bucks for that. You are doing great. Just give Mom some time to see that you are serious about taking care of AJ.......and AJ some time to work his magic on Mom. ;D We are here to help you any way we can.
