Hey Dom and/or Tesa. I'm not sure which one of you started this site (Maybe Both?), but I tip my hat to you. When I first started hanging out in the forum world, the Green Iguana Society board seemed the best. After a while though, I noticed little cliques that based their information and advice on egos and not sound, herpetivore care. Now don't get me wrong here, I love the information pages on that site and still use them at times today. And there are some good, caring people on the message board there. However, there's just too much conflict at times that seem to stray away from the real reason the board is there; Green Iguanas. I must say, this site has offered nothing but great advice from people who keep their focus where it belongs, and everyone seems to really give a hoot about everyone else and their wonderful green friends. Keep up the great work. I see this board as becomming the main iguana site in the not-so-distant future.
Joe

AWWWWWWWWWW!! Thankyou SO much Joe! What a great compliment!! As far as ownership..... I actually created and registered the site, but Dom has been here for me since day 1. He has always been my main source of support, and pulled me back up on my feet when I was ready to throw in the towel and shut IZ down. IZ wouldn't be here without him. I consider Dominick to be my full partner. Well....maybe 49%-51% ;D Thankyou very much for your kind words. I'm proud to see Iguana Zone moving in the right direction. (I would like to add tho, that I don't want Iguana Zone to be in a competition with other sites. I feel like people should belong to several sites and use the information collectively.)

Sorry if I sounded like I was making this a competitive thing, but that wasn't my intentions. I realize that there are many good sources out in the cyber-world. Its just that this site feels more like home to me than the other ones. And I'm glad to hear that you stuck it out. Usually the hardest things gained in life are our most fulfilling and greatest accomplishments. Again, keep up the great work!! Joe

Hi Joe-
Thanks for the nice sentiments. We are particularly proud of IZ and the direction it has taken. We strive to keep the information current, interesting and accurate.
This board is Tesa's creation, to spite the honors she tries to throw my way. She conceived it and wrote all of it by herself, in her own words. I have been here since it's inception, but in a supporting role for what she wanted to accomplish. Together, I think we make a great team.
GIS....Hmmmmm. I know what you are saying and have felt that way myself in the past. It's important to understand a few things about the GIS: They are my first love when it comes to Iguana information, no one presents it better than they do; They trained me in proper Iguana care; I actively participate on that board and enjoy it; My participation there is focused on correcting the very issues you speak about; Neither GIS or IZ is in competition with any other board, like GIS we stand on our own merits.
In the future, I sure do hope IZ becomes one of the top Iguana sites, simply for the sake of the Iguanas. The work involved in maintaining a site is astounding at times. Both Tesa and I would certainly choose a quieter web existence, but that directly conflicts with our primary goal which is to raised awareness and educate the public about the Giant Green Iguana.
Your comments are wonderful and very appreciated. Thank you. It is for people like you that we continue to operate IZ; people who care deeply for their green friends and take the time to constantly learn about them.
I enjoy your participation here and hope to read many more posts from you as well as all the others in our "family". We have a terrific membership, something Tesa and I comment on all the time.

I don't think its so much about competition as it is about attitude and courtesy. Many sites start out well intentioned but frequently end up bogged down in one-up-manship and name calling. If a newbie wanders thru looking for help and that is what they see going on, they LEAVE, even though they may have been able to get their problem solved with but a single post! I have left quite a few myself for that very reason.
Its nice to see that forums are finlly evolving that just flat out will not allow that. It doesn't necessarily mean that their information content is any more valid than any other forum. It's just a darn site more pleasant to be a part of. I for one know just how much work it takes to maintain that atmosphere and I salute you guys for it!

Merlin...I couldn't agree with you more. I'm on several ig education lists and sometimes the personal feelings got a bit to heated and the flaming wars began. Lots of people who really needed the help left. I would try to stay in touch personally, but the igs were the ones to suffer. The lists are getting better at monitoring these attacks, but there was never that problem on this forum to have to monitor.
This is a very user friendly forum!
