hey everyone,
2 weeks ago when I got Hunter Fluffy really seemed to enjoy his company, but lately (within the past few days) s/he seems a bit standoffish of him/her.
Fluff used to LOVE sunbathing first thing in the morning when I turned the lights on, but now stays in the lower level of their cage untill mid afternoon, and retreats back to it early evening. We recently made the additions to the cage so they'll have plenty of space to escape eachother if needed, it now stands about 6 ft tall and 4 ft wide and 5 long. before it was only 3ft tall...so all we did was build up. but Before we added to it Fluffy used to sleep on this one branch in the corner, after the addition began sleeping on a branch that goes right infront of their night time light.
But lately however has been sleeping back at the usual spot and spending most of the time there, it worries me because its now the cooler part of the cage and no light hits there. Its sort of like a den around it. Do you think this may be because of the security? But if so then why does S/he spend SO much time there, Fluffy used to put him/herself to bed between 9 and 9:30. EVERY day...but now its around 7-8. And doesnt seem to have the appetite s/he once had, I put plenty of food for both of them on their "buffet bar" (its a landing in the middle of the cage) on 2 seperate dishes. I know she has no problem getting up there because s/he ate fine untill this weird isolation thing started up.
Hunter seems to be a dominate iggy, but I've never seen him bully Fluffy, they bask together daily whenever Fluff comes out of her 'moping spot'. I call it that because she'll just sit there on that branch and look around or mostly just sleep on it.
Do you think shes depressed about having a roomate? Should I seperate the enclosures? I'm worried sick about this behavior...its very UNFluffy-like. I called a vet and they said its not a big deal...but it sounds like it to me...especially when she picks at her food, and used to jump right on the dish and dig in as soon as it entered her cage. She seems to only want to be hand fed.....which is a bad habbit but its the only way she'll take in a variety of greens.
please help us!!
I want my Fluffy back....
