i got quite teh clawing before hand though, i thought i'd take my gloves off so the wouldnt get wet,..it was a bad idea as i lowered him into the water he twisted ion myhand and grabbed onto it as hard as he could with all four feet and dug into me, but he did poop in the tub, just when i was about to give up too. so hopefully i'll get him in the tub again torrow before he goes in the cage, the paper thing didnt work he just poops everywhere in his cage

That's a great start! It'll go smoother as time progresses. Speaking of time....try to tub him as near to the same time every day as possible.

If you're not doing this already, when you put him into the tub, try to do it very slowly and talk to him as you do it. If you move too quickly when putting him in, he'll think that something is wrong and will start fighting you. Do it slowly and gently and he should quickly become more cooperative.
Its also going to be normal for him to walk through the poop in his cage and spread it everywhere while he is getting used to his new habitat. Audrey did this for the first few weeks I had her, but she's used to everything now. She's a pretty big girl, so she made a big mess which took hours to clean up...whew...glad that's over! ;D

Thankfully I see Eki about the same time everyday and I change his newspapers everytime he goes poop and he doesn't have the chance to play in it. But I have noticed I think he's trying to taste it Which is really nasty, so I moistion a paper towel and wipe off his mouth. But he's only got to spread it once before. Normally it gets removed before any real messes. But I did notice something. He'll poop on his log, in his water bowl, on the paper, BUT NOT ON HIS HAMMOCK.. The butt. lol
