I am so mad. My UNI is at the most 3 months old. He/or she gets handled every day, for the bath and some talking too and then he gets put back into a clean cage, petting him for awhile as he is on the branch, then I recap everything and put night lights into effect. He has learned that dad can also take care of him in the bathroom during bath time. If dad is going to take a shower, then he puts him on the towel, until he is done. But tonight he said that he was really aggressive and acted like he wanted to bite him. I wasn't there, so I don't know if in fact if it was the bite sign, or the rapid smell that they do with the mouth open and rapid tongue movement. But anyway, I took him out of the bathroom and had him in my hand for at least 25 min. Time to go to bed. Took him to the cage like I do every night and have to physically set him on the branch, so that I can then pet him to sleep. But for some reason tonight, when I went to bring my other hand in to do the stroking, he let me do it just once and as I was coming down on the tail area, which I have done Allway's, he took off like a shot, and My hand was still there and now I have the last portion of his tail. I am so sick it isn't even funny. He is just a baby, and was doing so good.

So are you saying her tail came off? If so dont worry it will grow back. I accidentally made my Iggy Piggies tail drop last year and it has grown back.

Something may have scared him. Is the towel the same color towel you have used before? Some igs react to different colors. Sometimes babies stay scared much longer than you think they should. It's part of their survival technique...keeps them wary and alive longer. Uni is still a baby. Expect this kind of erratic behavior up until about two years old or so. The tail will be fine. It will not be as pretty, but being so young, more of the tail will grow back than if he was an adult.

Yah!!.. I know that the tail will grow back and I am not worried about pretty. It just makes me mad that it even happened. I should have been more alert myself. I don't think anything was out of the ordinary, but something must have been that he didn't like. We'll be ok. :0)
