Ok, so like most of you already know, I have had Iggy since Jan, 2007. [As a matter of fact in 2 day's it will be a year] Everything that they did for her was all wrong, we got everything straightened out and working fine. She ate everyday but not a whole lot. So I thought ok by reading the posts that it was breeding season and she would pick it up in the spring and summer. It never happened. Now for the last 5 day's she has cleaned out her bowl. And I mean cleaned it out. Isn't this suppose to be the breeding season and the time where she won't eat much because of such. Or is she pigging out before she goes on her hunger strike. She is also in full shed. What is going on with her!!!! Don't get me wrong am not complaining just can't figure her out

Actually the gravid season for females is in a couple of months. Some igs have been going into season a bit early this year. The pigging out could be a precursor to going gravid. You might toss in a bit of extra calcium to be on the safe side.

I totally agree here. Females gorge themselves to build up fat stores for when they go off their feed as the eggs take up more room. The last two weeks they eat very little - if at all. Boosting the calcium is a very good idea and start reading up on the nest box (not building yet), but you'll be ready to IF she decides to take her eggs to term. She could absorb them, so building the box now could be for nothing - or she's just going through the motions and won't become gravid at all.
Ain't girlie igs fun!?! ;D

With her being 6 and she has never laid an egg!!. Was this because of her diet and such??? And now that I have gotten her going again, is it possible for her to do it for the first time at 6. As for the calcium. I have been giving her that since I got her. She got vitamins and calcium on an every other day basis, up untill about a month ago. Then I slowed it down to about twice a week. She has gained alot of weight and looks fat compared to what she was when I got her. So if she does become gravid, this is going to be a whole new game to me and sure am glad that you guy's are here for the help. I'll keep an eye on things and let ya know what I NEED to know:0( Thanks ..

Unfortunately they can be haphazard when it comes to laying. Some years Zok does and some years she doesn't. You just have to be prepared
