So I've started to notice that when George is free roaming he tries to eat my carpet. He has unlimited food in his cage but hell just start munching on the carpet. I have to keep going..no georgie and pick him up away from it. The carpet is blue. any ideas why?

Zair went through a period of doing this, too. I never knew why. He did eventually stop - but it was frustrating because we are a long-haired family and worried that maybe the vacuum never got up all the hair. Do you use scented carpet fresheners?

The carpet is an interesting color to Georgie, so its probably a series of test bites. On the other hand, Georgie may have gotten a sudden urge to eat while he's out exploring. Have you tried offering him food when he does this? Put it on a plate near him and call his attention to the plate, and see what happens.

i usually put him back into his home infront of the food and he eats it, turns around, and tries to eat the carpet again. I dont use a scented carpet freshener so i dont think its george trying to eat a "flower''. as for the hair, I dont know if hes getting any of that, my hair is long too and I try to vacuum atleast once a week, so the possibility is there. His poop doesnt have hair in it so I dont think he's been eating it, I'm pretty good at watching him and stopping him as soon as he starts.
