My female has started acting weird... she has stopped eating as much as normal and is has become much more hyper. she has also stopped using her potty pool to go to the restroom. ( ukk) she lives in an enclosure that is about 7feet long by 4 feet wide by 7 feet tall that has glass side and front. she always claws a bit at the glass but this has become more and more now.. she just does laps in the cage all day long up down up down lol ... this is my first iggy and I worry to death when ever anything changes a bit with her behavior... she is hmm going on 3 years old best I know.. she is about 4 feet head to tail. what if anything should I do.. thank you so much for any help!! First are you positive that is a female? How long has this behavior been going on? Eggs are a definte possibilty. Does her belly look swollen? Do you have an egg laying box prepoared for her? If not it would be a good idea. How long have you had her. What is her diet and temperatures like.

yes I am sure she is a female.. the behavior just started in the few days... as for her belly lol I am freaking out a bit so I thik it might look a bit swollen .. but might just be me... I don't have any kind of box for her how big does it need to be and what should be in it? I just put a bunch of old towels in on side of the floor for her to dig in ..
as for her diet.. it is normally mustard or collard greens, papayia or mangoo.. acorn squash or bananna squash... I have had her since she was little like maybe 5-6 months old she has been to the vet once a year since I have owned her. she has a coule basking areas about 95 or so ... with a median temp in the cage around 85.
thank you!!

The only way to be sure she's gravid is with an x-ray. Then you can worry about a nesting box... ;D. Once you have this tidbit - and she is in fact gravid - then here's a site that can guide you through on how to make one. Don't forget the heated substrate. girlies like their heat for laying... . well I am feeling alot better now .. LOL she is eating her normal portions again and has returned to using her POTTY not the whole enclosure to do her business... My wife and I are having some financial issues right now and being she was eating and I watched her very carefully each day I didn't take her to the vet... ( very scary decision ) the vet bill would have been so high to do x rays and I just don't have the money.. but she is back to her old self.. no more digging and eating great again thanks guys

The vet would have been about $100...maybe $150. I am glad she has gotten back to normal, though.

The vet would have been about $100...maybe $150. I am glad she has gotten back to normal, though. no direspect meant by this post but no way my vet would only be 100$ it is more than that for her yearly wellness check and that doesn't do Xrays... I am ashamed that I am in a very tight money situation right now and if something bad would have happened becasue I didn't go to the vet I don't think I could have lived with myself.. I take her to the university here for her treatmeants they have by far the best available care for animals but is very expensive I did talk to them and they told me to watch for a few things that never came to play. She is 100% back to normal eating like there is no tomorrow again using her bathroom all the time again (thank god!) and me and her have become alot closer.. she allows me to hold and pet her so much more now then before .. I think she learned I am here to help her the best I can... se even lets me do her toe nails with my dremel tool now with no fuss LOL thank you guys for being here and being so nice! DN

I am ashamed that I am in a very tight money situation right now No disrespect in stating the facts on your vet. I sometimes forget it's more expensive in other areas. It maybe more expensive here now, too. It's been awhile since I've had to do a full physical on anyone. Even setting aside $5 a week can really make the difference in saving up for the unforeseen. I'm glad she's doing better, too...and you have a vet wiling to work with you over the phone to some extent...
