If you fry about anything you will ruin it, then again I am making fried rice right now. To clarify deep frying anything ruins it. Squash are also very easy to grow. I grew some over the summer from seeds I literally scooped out of Bob's food -- 8 squash one the vines right now.
Culinary note: I have had these flowers stuffed (much like a pepper) then gently sauteed in a little olive oil -- very good. It is amazing what the Italians can do with new world produce.
