Have you tried doing a search on cycluras? That's the genus rock iguanas come from. There are several species of rocks igs. They all need animal protein, but I don't know how much. Maybe asking Melissa Kaplan on her Iguana Maling List in Yahoo groups can help. She is an active participant. Just make sure you put "OT" before posting. www.cyclura.comwww.anapsid.org/cyclura/ Read Mikey's journal...the old ones. Link is at the bottom of the page. There is more info coming in on the cyclura diet. No one can seem to agree right now. Some say that the rocks are 100% herbivorous...some say they need at least some animal protein...such as once a month. Good luck in your search is all I can offer. ( Just a side note - this is why you need to research PRIOR to purchasing... ) At least the rest of the requirements are easy enough to obtain.

Cycluras are not quite the same as the spiny tail iguana. The spiny tail is Ctenosaurus. Here's a link www.anapsid.org/cteno.html. CoRHS has one spiny tail living among their green iguana population, and they all eat the same food. The same debate exists over food on MKs site, but it seems that the adults do quite well on the standard mix of green iguana foods.

When I basically got this same information from the Nashville zoo website I got this response Which I did not realize zoo websites were rouge sites. So I then gave Melissa Kaplan's site for the person who started the thread to check out. And said that I didn't think that site was a rouge site. Marie
