I want to put Lenore in the bathtub to swim sometime, but I need to know what temperature the water should be, how deep, and is straight tap water ok for her to get in? Will the chlorine in the water hurt her? I only give her spring water to drink, so I wasn't sure if chlorine would be dangerous to her like it is to fish.

Just a thought:
It would be a good ide to run the bathwater first so she isn't scared of the noise/splashing of it. Some igs take to baths right away, but others freak out. Don't be discouraged if she is scared at first. It took about a month of daily baths for Thrasher to learn to enjoy it. Now she sits under the water as its running and gets a massage. ;D Also: be prepared to drain the tub and start over cause a poop might happen! lol

Don was a bit unsure at first too. Loves it now though! I leave a towel on the side for him to climb in and out of, if the bottom of it gets wet it sort of holds itself in! also he has a rubber mat to sit on, he seems to feel safer with it. He has pinched an old sponge to rest his head on! This is an old pic of him... Don likes to sit under the tap end of the bath, so I always make sure theres no hot water drips waiting to drop on his head!!

Kyo hates her bath! It's the only time I've seen an iguana run up on hind legs ;D After 5 months I think that she would at least be resigned to the fact that she is going to soak whether she likes it or not!
At what point do I say that this is too stressful (for her and for me, lol)? I've tried the bathmat in the tub, but the towel over the side is a no go because she climbs out immediately. I also run her bath before she is in there because I thought the noise might be the cause.
Any suggestions?

Give up. After fighting with Bob for a long time I just gave up a few months ago. A 50" long nine year old male ig is a worthy fight for anyone. The last straw in my fight wiht him was when I had just put him in and settled him down he jumped and nearly cleared the side of the tub (over 18" high) -- instead he landed on top of the edge and slid the rest of the way out.
Now I just spray him down with a misting bottle and occasionally hold him under the middle of his belly in the shower and keep my face out of the way. Sometimes I also take a couple of clean pop bottles filled with water and pour them slowly over him when outside -- he seems to like it but gets rather muddy feet.

I cant believe how tiny he looks and how much hes grown in the last year! Maybe just spraying her is best if she really hates it!? You could try stroking her with a wet cloth too. When Dons sides are peeling and they come off quite well ususally, he seems to enjoy being rubbed gentley with his wet sponge lol! He leans into it, I think it makes his peeley skin more comfortable to soak it lots. Also to get at the bits above the water line I sit and pour water on his back, but sometimes it tickles him and he flicks water at me in a huff so I leave him alone! Its a shame if she really really wont go in though, she might not know til she tries it!

Gil used to hate his bath too. I'd put him in and slide the doors shut. THAT was my mistake. As long as he see out and knows he can get out when he wants to, he's perfectly happy to soak for a while. ;D
Keep changing your tactics and maybe you'll find something that works.

While outside today I used a watering can to shower Bob with. That worked a whole lot better than the plastic coke bottles. Neighbor lady thought I was nuts watering my iguana but hey she was the one that was emptying all of her flower pots into a trash bag today.
Bob did not mind the shower too much might work for Kyo.

She doesn't mind misting with a bottle, as long as she just gets the mist...no direct spray. I give up, it must be the house. Our retriever is also terrified of water, but we have one cat that will jump in the tub with ya! Cyndi
