I have been mauling what the vet said over in my head -- that Bob was not dehydrated but dried out.
I mist Bobs food daily but that is not enough. Over the last few days I have been giving him a bit of bread -- about a quarter piece -- dripping with water. What are some other options for daily treats that will carry a lot of water with them?
Looks like I can all but write off my old stand by, oranges, because of the hurricanes. Man, my sweat tooth is going to take a hit this winter I can go thru a bag of oranges alone in 3 days.

Hmmm I am not quite sure what the distinction between the two terms would be!
You might try watermelon and cantelope. Both are mainly water.

Should have been clearer I guess.
Bob was not to the point of being considered dehydrated but his blood was thicker than it should have been so he was did not have the amount of water needed.

Grapes are a great source of water intake. So is watermelon, but of course, you can only feed these things as treats...so the way I do it in the winter is one of two ways:
1: Zair LOVES to drink from the squirt bottle. As I spritz him I will aim straight into his closed "lips". I can see his throat start to fluctuate while he starts to drink this way...then he opens his mouth to start drinking normally. I squirt until he turns hi head awy. A lot of water gets into him this way.
2: Syringe. About 5 cc's every couple of days...every day if you're so inclined...a couple times a day.
Personally...the spritzing is by far the easier.

I have the ig that hates water, 45 seconds is about the record he has remained in a tub and he instantly turns his head when I spray him but I continue anyway.

Hmm. My eki will lay, sit and bask atop of his waterdish. He's addicted to just lounging. He will drink water on his own. But he'll sit all day in his water dish if it's warm enough.
