I just picked up a Jack La Lanne Juicer and I wanted to know if the pulp remaing after juicing from vegatables and fruits had any nutrirional value to feed the iguanas or would this just be worthless filler that made him feel full but had no nutrirional value?

Depending on what type of veg or fruit it is...the pulp would be fine to feed and just as nutritious as if it was in larger pieces...if your ig would eat mush that is... . Zair doesn't like mush and may eat a small amount, but not near what he usually eats.

Thanks for the fast reply. I will see if either one accepts it and if not, I know two pot bellied pigs in the yard who would find it (as well as anything I feed them) the most enjoyable thing they ever tasted.

Seems we have developed a system to determine whats acceptable as veggies here. If its good.. it's soon gone, if its not acceptable.... it stays there all day, and if its really bad... it gets thrown all over the cage. I was low on greens so I used all of the romaine stalks as well as the spinach leaves on top. When I came home the spinach was gone and the romaine stems were everywhere and Buddy was looking down at me from his perch doing his best Ellen De Generes impression of "HOW DARE YOU?"

Well...I have to tell ya...I love that system! I'm just glad Zair hasn't learned that one!
As for your choice of foods you listed...and I know they're not the only foods you feed...are very bad foods. The spinach is very high in oxalates which bind the calcium keeping it from getting absorbed.
Romaine is little more than a candy bar. No nutritious value really to speak of. It is the best of the lettuces to feed, but still at the bottom of the nutrition chain. I never feed it either.
DO NOT allow Buddy to e-mail Zair and teach him this system!!

Yup, somehow our igs have a better sense of what's good and bad for them than we do. My igs have always hated grapes, spinach, bananas, etc. Although Mercury used to steal french fries right off my plate, and Audrey does the same with Brocolli when I'm eating Chinese food. They too are junk food junkies, they just seem to be a little more selective than we are.
