Thrasher is the same way as Zok. She's perfectly happy until I stop her. I'm working on teaching her "no" along with the stop from the leash. She understands what the word means, but only minds me if SHE feels like it. ;D

i just want to ask a question: Is it me or if a package had for mice, rabbits, ferretts u know animals of not much power and then an iguana on it would u think NOT!! I know when i buy things for baby i know that if it has small animals on it and then the iggy name i laugh becuase if it can hold them it is not going to hold baby!! I was just wondering. When i went to get the leash for baby he tried to sell me this skinny ferrett leash i simple said to him thanks but no thanks he said why wouldnt it work i said okay i have a ferrett and an iguana i would put my ferrett on that skinny line of rope but the iguana i dont think so he is powerful and besides that HEAVY!!! He still insisted i said okay i will go home and put him on it and if he gets away or out u can 1. Help me catch him or 2. pay for my loss emotional and physically. He said no thats okay just to sell i tell u these days!!!

I made Dons (exactly like the one in Tesas link) out of a sleeping-bag bag cord, and attached it to a light weight cat lead for length. He has grown out of it a bit now though, and I will be getting him a stronger lead. Don has managed to get out of it before though! We didnt like his spikes being bent up so it wasnt on too tight, but ultimately whats worse a broken spike or no ig?! Anyway I decided to get a harness one from this place here in the UK www.toppetshop.co.uk however they have taken my money and not sent me anything I will be phoning again today and asking for a refund if the harnesses arent all that reliable anyway, and I'll stick to my home made one!! So, kind of answering the question of where NOT to get one from!!

Its probably because the people that followed his other advice never had an iguana that grew up!

Exactly Merlin, when people see Bob and say "I used to have one of those" I immediatly ask them how they killed him.
Anyway I use a heavier harness and lead for Bob than my dad uses on either of his dogs, Murphy a boston terrior and Zoe an overweight Maltese

OH MARK! I hope you don't really ask them how they killed their ig. That's such a quick way to make someone mad beyond listening to the RIGHT way on caring for an ig.
Even though you may be right...and their lack of knowledge DID kill the ig...does not mean that they should be attacked like this. It's a wonderful opportunity to do some good and teach them the right way.

Hey Mark, "What happened to it?" and "How did you kill it?" have the same amount of syllables, but one leads to learning while the other well I'm guilty of killing an iguana out of ignorance... and it deeply hurts me, but If I was asked like that, I think there'd be a bit of Portuguese temper flaring! Back to the topic... I recently bought Gil a dog collar... and I put it around his hips and attach a lead. Gil doesn't seem to mind at all, and I like knowing that he's not going too far with out me. I am concerned about his spikes though, so I think I'll put a band-aid over them to keep them down and uninjured.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who puts bandaids on her iguana. ;D
This time last year I was nursing Thrasher's tail. She had a patriotic bandaid and boy did I ever take a ribbin' for that !

I also bought a shoulder harness that Drako absolutely HATED (so I wasn't using it)...Then two days ago when we were coming in from his outside enclosure, he got startled, ran up my arm and down my back like a flash and across the yard back toward his enclosure. Here I am running, trying to not step on his tail, I got to the enclosure and quickly opened the door then ran around the other side to head him off. He turned around and jumped right in - WHEW!!!!
Well, it has now been modified into a hip harness, he doesn't seem to mind it too much, tho' I do get a couple of alligator rolls when we disagree on the direction of travel ;D
