With a cage that small a double tube 4 foot long UV fixture could be hard to fit in but think about the costs. If you are going out and buying it now I would buy that double tube type as it will be the type of tube light you want later -- save the money by not buying something else later.

Tomorrow I'm just going to buy a lamp. My question was if it really made that much of a difference if I got a double light now or in six months, which is more or less when well start working on the new enclosure. As for size I really don't understand your metric system that well but if 4 ft is longer than 1m, then it wont fit, unless of course we get creative and make a 2 in 1 design of a uv emitting branch.

Tania, 1 m is 39 1/4", and 4 feet is 48" We are stuck with the metric system in Canada. I was raised with both Imperial and Metric systems, confusing. as for the single or double tube question, a single tube now should do the job.

4 feet is 1.22 meters.
I grew up with the imperial system but once I hit pyhsics I started with metric now 9 years later I am better with the metric system than english generally. Once into mass, force, acceleration, energy potentials, and the like I use metric and am clueless in english.
On a side note did you know that a horsepower is smaller in France than in the rest of the world? 1 hp is defined as 745.6999 Watts but Frace rounds it down to 745 and calls it a day.
