Its likely to be a combination of both. Since he is now getting more UVB, he's going to start acting more like an iguana. This time of year, with a male, that means decreased appetite, and other unusual behavior such as pooping in random spots. I have to give Hercules a bath every day this time of year, otherwise he'll end up pooping in a spot I don't want him pooping in...and he eats quite a bit less than usual. It sounds like normal behavior to me.

You know when I bought my Mega-Ray Tiriki started pooping directly under the lamp...Then she lays in it and smells like a chicken coop by the time I get home..Her growth rate is normal and her eating habits have gotten better though. I talked to my vet about this and she said that they won't lay under it all the time, it's just their way of thermoregulating. I also have a full spectrum 100 watt in there that she likes too. When my Ig's eating slows down I usually feed her by hand and also give her more butternut or acorn squash with collard greens and usually her appetite picks up. I'm not an expert but maybe these things can help...
