well most of u know me and u know how much i love my iggy...so after reading that the humidity has to b higher during the recovery process of my iggys tail...so i went out and bought a digital thermometer/hygrometer instead of just using the other cheap thermometers i had....well i made a post a while back bout my iguana not going into his basking area and that the temp was right around where it was supposed to b...well apparently my thermometer is reading a bad temp or something cause i have the probe for teh digital right where he would b laying and guess what the temp was.................no clue yet.........117 degrees....yea A LITTLE WARM....granted i was using a 150 watt bulb and its like 9 inches from the basking area i guess that would b expected.....so needless to say im using a lesser bulb and hopefully i can get a decent temp....as always thanks for ur time and ur amazing help....

Yes that would explain it! That temperature is completely out of the ball park. I remember reading about a study that stated iguanas started to die at 115 degrees! Good thing there was room for your ig to get away from the heat. This could have been bad!

to get the heat down a bit more, just try moving the bulb a little further away to allow some heat the escape. I've also found that my humidifier drops the temp a bit, since it cools the air as it evaporates.
