hey everyone! I've been really busy so I havent been on here in a while, however, not too busy for Fluff. But yesterday she had an accident, I had her out on my bed while we were watching tv. and somehow her nails got stuck in my afgahn throw. when we finally got her loose she had ripped off 2 of her nails from her back right leg, and 1 of the left back. I think I was more upset than she was, I was crying like a baby, but I put some quick stop on it and applied pressure until the bleeding stopped, which was only about a minute or 2. will they grow back? should I take her to a vet? I feel so bad!!! has anyone else ever had this happen. I'm scared Fluffy wont trust me anymore, I tryed to get her out today and she didnt want to let me get near her...VERY unFluffy-like.....

Awww! I'm sorry for both of you. Whether or not they grow back depends on how far down into the nail bed they were torn. You might dab some Neosporin on them, but that's about all you can do. Make sure you keep her really clean and do watch for infection. Keep us posted.

Ditto Tesa-
The Vet won't be able to do much more than collect your money. LOL
Rex lost 1/2 his big toe on his back foot when he was an Iglet. It was during an escape attempt. The Vet splinted it, but it died and fell off. No real trauma to the Ig, like you, more so for us!
Keep it clean and it will heal. It may or may not grow back. No sense biting your nails over it! ;D

ok, thank you guys so much, I felt really guilty about it. I've already been putting some neosporin on it, and having to keep her distracted untill it dries bc she tries to lick it, they broke where her toenail starts and toe ends. so maybe since its just the nail it will grow, if not then I dont have to worry about getting too scratched up when she scales my arm. lol.

Keep the cage extra clean for a couple of weeks, too. Soaking in Betadine (povidone iodine) will also help. Every ig owner should have this in their iguana first aid kit...
