Vega$ had her followup visit to the vet yesterday. Vet still thinks it's a very early caught thermal burn. She has a tiny bit of pain reflex still. There's the tiny possilbity it was a self-bonkage or insect bite; but we will probably never know for sure. The tissue under the scales appear to be harder --- possilibty scar tissue, which the body could resolve (or not). We have her on Baytril still for 5 more doses. Then we'll wait 2 weeks to schedule an appt with blood work. He wants to make sure that there is no appearance of monocytes. She gained 1/8th of a pound since her visit 2.5 weeks ago. He was pleased with her overall appearance, giving her the full groping ok ok palpating and sorts. It defintely isn't getting worse! She's eating, pooping, basking and being feisty daily. Very fat tail too! Des. Side note: I was once again reminded why I dont like Vega$ free-roaming a car. My own car is in the shop; she only travels in a carrier, mainly due to the leather interior and ig claws are just plain bad for overall surface. I have a rental car with cloth interior. Ok, so I thought it might be nice for her to not have to sit in the carrier. The darn girl wouldn't sit still. She's walking around in circles in the car, even at one point, insistent to sit on the dash, of which she slid off immediately. *shakes head* *makes note: HEED YOUR OWN ADVICE*

Hi Des-
Glad to hear that Vega$ is doing well. Still a thorn in my side over the whole Thermal-burn issue, but that's for another board.
Funny, when Rex rides in a car he holds on for dear life. Not because of my driving, LOL but more because he prefers to be on solid ground and the ground in the car is moving most of the time. LOL

Dom... have you considered that it maybe Jersey drivers in general? ;D
Gil LOVES riding in the car. I took him to meet Holly Hayden a couple weeks ago, and he had to be in the carrier... it's 1/2 hour away... and he got so mad he pooped in there.
I hate ig punishment! eeeww!

Glad to hear V is doing so well, Des! She's got a great mom... I didn't heed my own advice either on using carriers, but I really didn't have room for two. Taji was in a small one, Zair was on the back dash when I went to do the "show and tell" last Tues. The sun was coming through the window on the back dash and thankfully he stayed. I had a human soc. meeting later and didn't have time to bring him home first. He got pissy and pooped on the front floor board...

Just an update. I had her blood panels run again last weekend and everything came back great! She's fully recovered. She gained another 1/8th of a pound too! There's no outward physical damage, but underneath, the texture seems a little bit firm in some spots..but no pain reflex at all. She could have cooked from the inside-out and developed scar tissue in those areas. The fact that we addressed her condition early made a lot of difference. Since the last status, we had monitored her condition with blood panels. And we also gave her baytril and generously coated her areas with silvadene. She also shed in those areas once. VERY VERY thick shed. Wheee! Des.
