Willie's last blood test showed his calcium was in the normal range, but I'm not so sure he hasn't suffered from a lack of calcium during his anorexia. When I feel his ribs, I feel little knobs on the ends of them. Any thoughts on this?

Not a clue... . I don't even know what Zair's feel like, but I'm about to find out.

Please let me know, prism. I think it's a red flag, but i can't remember where I read/heard it.

Zair doesn't seem to have what you're describing. I am researching, but I can't give you a solid answer. This is vet stuff here... It could be from hypercalcemia, but I just don't feel comfortable saying that. Hypercalcemia is a pretty serious deal and I would think the symptoms you are describing would have to happen over a period of time. Unless you have been giving added calcium in the diet previous to his anorexia, then this really doesn't seem like the case. Here's MK's link on hypercalcemia: www.anapsid.org/hypercal.html. "Malignancies with bone involvement" is mentioned there. If this WAS the case, however, with Will's levels being normal now, the abnormalities/malignancies will have stopped. What were his Ca: P levels when you first took him in?

Here are two blood panel results, Prism
9/16 calcium 13.0 normal 8.0-13.0 phosphorus 4.1 (low) normal 5.0-8.0
10/13 calcium 11.9 normal phosphorus 5.4 normal
I think these levels are okay now.
There are other out of range results, though.
Comparing the results from both tests, I see improvement in every area. The first 5 out of normal range are, I was assured are due to dehydration. And each of there are getting better.
Protein is high 6.8 (3.3-5.5) Bun is low..allegedly not significant in igs. Will check this out.
Glucose high but going lower. Sodium high 167 (130-150) Potassium Low 0.7 (1.5-6.5) Uric Acid Low
I wish I knew more about what these mean. I was assured Willie was getting better. The only out-of- normal range result his vet wanted me to work on was the potassium.
Thanks, Prism, for the checking you're doing. I appreciate it more than you can realize.

BUN is very important in igs. This measures the uric acids in the system and allows the vet to see how well the kidneys are functioning. A low reading means he seems to be well hydrated. There's enough fluid flushing his system that the uric acid has been diluted giving the low reading. This is a good thing... ;D.
It's when the levels are elevated that you would need to worry.
