Hi IggyJanna, Have a look at this post for instructions on posting pics. tesa.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=pictures&action=display&thread=1067958996As long as nothing is actively bleeding, your iguana should be ok. Just keep the wounds clean like you have been doing...make sure to only dab the iodine on the wounds, you don't want to soak anything in iodine. Hopefully the pics you post will help us determine if the toenail was ripped out or if the toe was bitten off. If it was bitten off, then you should take the iguana to a vet for antibiotic injections. Give us your general location, and hopefully someone here can point you in the direction of a good herp vet.

I just recently had to deal with Narcy yanking a claw completely off. . .bled like the dickens! But i have just basically kept it as clean as possible and the first 3 or 4 days i actually folded a circle bandaid in half over the claw then wrapped another around and up the toe. Then changed that approx. every 24 hours max. It appears that he is healing fine, so if you keep the injuries very clean, and the appetite stays good they will probably be ok. Also make sure you keep the temp up to at least 90 for healing.

i've separated them. The wound isn't bleeding anymore, but i think pus is forming around the peeled skin. it's still there actually, i haven't pulled the scale off yet....i'm afriad i might cause it more pain. I still haven't taken her picture yet. and i'm still looking for a herp. you see i'm from the philippines and there are few vets here, and it's pretty hard to find a good vet. imagene how hard it is to find a good herp. i bought my iguana at a pet market. so i don't expect janna to have shots yet. how many shots do they need? henry lizardlover makes it look so easy, well it's hard but i'll try my very best to provide my igs with what they need ;D Thank you guys for replying!!! i really appreciate it!!! ;D ;D ;D

Just so no one gets confused...you are looking for a "herp vet". A herp is a reptile... . Iguanas do not need shots of any kind. Don't delay in getting pictures up. When it's a medical issue, it needs to be taken care of immediately. For more information on caring for your babies, please refer to tesa.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=basics This is the Iguana Care Basics section of this forum. Three more very good sites are: www.anapsid.orgwww.iguanaden.comhttp//www.greenigsociety.orgThese will help you a TON! ;D
