It finally happened! Thrasher started scratching/digging around like a freak, begging to be let out of her house and then inspecting the closets, under beds, and other dark places, being VERY restless! She keeps going to her poop place and sitting for an extra-ordinary amount of time without pooping. I knew what was going on, but I hadda take her to the vet for an Xray to prove it to myself. Yep! Confirmed eggs!! She hasn't eaten worth a crap for 4 days. She stays pretty much in the position of the first pic. Props up her top to relieve pressure on her lungs I suppose. WHAT a worrisome time THIS is! I'm watching her closely.... Ya'll wish us luck! (one good thing to come out of this. I was able to see in the xray that she has recovered very well from the MBD. Her bones look GREAT) ;D

Yes, it's interesting......but I'm skeered! Just pay attention to your ig. When I was talking to my vet with Zoks first season she told me that the reason a lot of gravid igs get into trouble is the owners don't pay attention to the warning signs. And most of them were in poor condition when they got gravid and then the owners waited too late to do anything about it. None of which applies to YOU darlin!

hey, tesa! is this your first gravid experience? i'm sure she'll be fine with a doting mommie like you. :-)
nag, nag....are you supplimenting her with extra calcium daily? have you fixed her egging box yet? giving her extra long soaks in the tub? are her urated orangish? if so, are you syringing extra liquid in her mouth? have you re-read that egg chapter in MK's Igs for Dummies book? are you telling her she beautiful every day? gravid gurls need extra reassurance. :-) are you keeping a diary? that's always helpful in case timelimes are questioned, as well as for future years to have a comparisons. and i'm sure you know to be ready for any emergency that may come up. i know, i'm such a nag when it comes to gravid gurls. having her get gravid means you've done a good job with keeping her healthy enuf to make eggs in the first place. congratulations & good luck!

Good Luck! Iggi has resorbed eggs 3 times. If you want to get her spayed, now would be a good time.

I'm keeping you guys in my prayers. Darry has the right advise, she's a great person to listen to. And yes, with a doting mommie like you, she will be just fine.

aww thanks guys. Your votes of confidence help....kinda. Darry, yes to my first time, yes to extra calcium, yes to egg box (altho she shows no interest in it), no to orange urates, yes to extra fluids, yes to extra long baths, no on the egging chapter cause I gave my book to someone who needed it worse than me, yes to telling her how pretty she is (several times a day) ;D, and yes to timeline/diary. Tomorrow will be 7 days since she started acting freaky enough that I KNEW she was gravid, Thursday will be a week since the x ray confirmed it. Today was day 4 with hardly any food. I have the vet on standby. I'm worried too because the eggs don't look to be very well calcified. She is still frequently begging to come out of her house, then goes dierectly to my kids bedroom closet and hangs out there for an hour or so. I tried putting the egg box there, but she ignores it. **sigh** If ya'll think of anything else let me know!

Tesa you will do just fine. You have the experience and observational skills. You have a vet on call (VERY important!), And you care!
When Zok had her first season she went off food for a while and did the digging and roaming and then went back to normal for about a month. Then she started it all over again and didin't eat anything for about 2 weeks before she lay and then it was an egg here and a few days later an egg there. It took almost 3 weeks to complete laying so it isn't necessarily a quick deal!

Hee Hee! Just wanted you to know. All the books make it sound like its a quick down and dirty deal! The first time had me worried to death when it didn't happen in one swoop!
And be prepared! If she does lay, afterwards they look like death warmed over! Kind of like a deflated balloon!
