On the spur of the moment I decided to build Orko an outdoor cage made out of pvc pipe and plastic covered wire mesh like chicken wire. I figure Orko is going to want to play in the snow this winter. This way he can't get lost. Anyways it was going to be 65in x 65in x 30in. I went down to home depot and it turns out that they only sell 10ft long pipes. I ended up buying 20 1" 10foot long pipes. 27 elbow connectors(some jackarse put a 120 degree connector in the 90 degree elbow bins, so I need to go back for one more) and 6 T connectors. Grand total: 53$ I still have to buy the mesh and I have 3 10footers left over. If I had gone with a smaller diameter pipe it would of cost like 20$ less. Anyways... the cage is measuring 75in x 75in x 45in. I still need to buy bolts, mesh and a pair of hinges/latch for the door. I'll post some pictures when I get a connector cord for my brothers camera.

Yes they did...and the sadest part was everone got really upset at the guy and he never returned to the site ....and that is the worst part...I wasnt impressed how people handled that situation with this obviously undereducated guy...I wish people could have been a little more helpfull to the IG ,what was done was done and the he could have used some medicall advice on how to make sure infection didnt set in and the owner definatlly could use some re education to ensure he became a competent Ig owner However people were calling him stupid and stuff and he never returrned ,,,,, Not sure what the outcome will be. Yeah I was kidding hehe. ;D
However I did think it would be cute to make a heated iguana snow suit, not sure if that is even possible.
Anyways I picked up the bolts/nuts and pvc primer/glue for the cage today for a total of $10.30

Hi James-
It's exactly because of unfriendly sites like THAT one that Tesa created this site.
You'll never see that kind of talk here, as long as I'm watching.
You're right, and I've complained to several sites about that kind of behavior. If the person asks the question, and it seems sincere, then help the person for the sake of the Ig.
Now, that poor Ig has an uneducated and angry owner to deal with.
And I too was taken back when I read the snow thing. As you pointed out, nothing is far fetched when it comes to Ig care and the things that some owners believe.
Glad I hadn't responded before I read the whole thread. Steph would have been all over me for that! LOL

Hi Shaun-
I'll be interested to see the final product. I think the PVC pipe and wire mesh cages are great for outside use.
Only thing you need to address is humidity retention in the enclosure.
Also, I'd like to know more about the "plastic-coated chicken wire". Saying Chicken Wire in an Iguana forum is like saying you feed your Ig crickets. It invokes severe reactions. Chicken wire is weak and dangerous for the Ig. I suppose you have a different product than the run of the mill Chicken Wire. I'm curious to know more.
Good luck with the build. Should be fairly simple.

Yeah after I typed that I was thought "oops I probably shouldn't of said chicken wire". It's a wire mesh covered in rubber/plastic. I havn't bought any yet but I saw several rolls of it at the tractor supply company in town.
*whew* After an hour or so I have solidly glued all the pipes together, tomorrow I get to bolt it.

Hi Shaun-
Good job! That's exactly what I suspected. A Wire Mesh fabric. that will be perfect.
Keep at it buddy! We eagerly await completion and a pic!

James and Yoda How sad for the Ig and the owner. But how sad too for the hostility of the others. They've obviously never watched Mary Poppins... "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down." They could have been so much more helpful had they tempered their remarks with helpful advice. <note to self: don't be a jerk.> As for YOU Dominick: No way I'd be all over you, buddy... I just learned that you're Sicilian! I don't want the mafia coming after me!!

Shaun? Where'd you get the plans for it? I'd like to make a CHEAP outside cage for Thrasher. (As soon as I get over the trauma induced by the new indoor house she got a couple of months ago) ;D

I kind of doodled it in paintbrush to get it right. This site gave me the idea but our cages are abit different. www.geocities.com/RainForest/9008/pvccage.htmlMy design: And because of MAR I realised a cage doesn't have to be a rectangle lol. I've decided to keep this rectangle cage as Orko's bigger downstairs cage. In a few months I'm going to make an INVERTED PYRAMID CAGE. It just sounds more special when I put it in caps. I figure he can rest on it's sides to sun bathe rather than having logs to weigh down the cage. This one WILL be small I swear.
