Sorry, Tesa, I did post out of order. However, I have since added an introductory post. And it occurs to me that I left something very important out of my introduction post... THANK YOU!
I am simply delighted to find an iguana only place like this. Thanks again!

Is that an empty swimming pool? If so, what in the heck are you doing in Vegas without a pool? lol

Steph:
The pool had been empty for years when I moved here. The owner of the house, my mother-in-law, can't swim and so she let us convert the unused pool into an iggie habitat.
Tesa:
You only see two *real* iguanas, though you might be spotting a plastic ig in some of those pix. Before we rescued Mary, we had a plastic ig-friend for Bailey.

Before we moved here, Bailey was always in a multi-ig (and multi-pet) household. As strange as it may sound, he seemed lonely here all by himself. He would cuddle up to his mirror reflection - no hostility at all - and he got to be very friendly with the cat. So we got him a plastic iggie, and he loved it... until he came in season - then he bit it's toes off (don't worry, he spit them right out) and then he tried to mate with it.
We kept Plastic Mary around for a little while after we rescued the real Mary, but we eventually took the plastic one away when Mary and Bailey started to get along again. It's a long story, but Bailey and Mary had lived with each other earlier in their lives - then they were apart for about two years.

Steph:
At the top of the second photo you can see some of the mist coming down. We have a misting hose which hangs across the deep end of the pool where all the branches are. And the deep end is also covered with dark green bird mesh to protect them from the ungodly heat of summer. To tell the truth, when it gets really hot in the summer my husband and I spend a lot of time out there with the iggies just to enjoy the coolness and humidity as it's a good 20 degrees cooler in their habitat than it is anywhere else outside.

From your fingers to god's ears, Steph. I swear, if I didn't love the little brute so much he'd have been turned into a shoe months ago. Life is a lot more peaceful now that we have a proper cage to put him in.

It must be a bad season... Mark's having trouble with Bob for the first time (in I think 8 years), then Bailey, and Gil's been a biter this season (though, he's only 2 so I don't have much experience with it yet). *sheesh*
Well, I hope to meet Bailey and Mary (or at least Mary) this weekend and see that summer house!

Eek, Steph...
The summer home is mess right now. In addition to waiting for the overnight weather to warm up, we can't move them to the pool home until we pump out a winter's worth of rain water that's built up. There must be 3-4 feet of icky, slimy, grunge water in there right now. We have next weekend scheduled for the pumping and bailing (if we can borrow the pump).
