I am building a new large cage for Bob, 4' d x8' l x6' h. I have most of the external parts and ideas for the inside toys but before I jump into building the furnishings I am looking for additional ideas on climbing toys.
Normally I am fast to answer this question but I am looking for other's experiences and how their igs like various things to climb on. Affixing/suspending things is easy, I am more looking for layout ideas.
thanks Mark

We had a plum tree that was getting too big, so we used that to furnish Dons new viv, it looks great! We have a tree in our lounge!! Lol! Don loves it too, he can bask on it and climb. His climbing skills have really improved since we got him that, he can cling on with one toe! We also wrapped leafey things and those plastic bendy vines round the branches too for extra grip, theyre great. He also has a hammock right at the top, and a box shelf hidey hole with a cushion which he occasionally goes in, its got leafey things infront of it and he also like to lie on the top of it where its warm, with his legs danggling off ;D Heres some pics: Theres some more bulbs under the shelf and a piece of bark to bask on and watch his fish! I didnt think he would use that bit coz he likes to be high up, but he does!

I used wooden shelves with astro turf stapled to them. You have no idea how annoying it is to spend all that time building ramps and all Orko does is climb the screen to get to next level.

Thanks! Don does love it in there, sometimes I cant get him off that hammock! Whats that astro turf like? Is it easy to clean? I bet it looks great! We are still awaiting our repti-carpet from our local reptile shop but I dont think its ever going to get here

yeah it looks pretty good, I have no idea how hard clean up would be since Orko refuses to go to the bathroom in his cage(yay). It's like bright green carpet but instead of yarn strings it's made of plastic. So I don't see why it couldn't be cleaned off with hot water and a towel.

Like butchers have?! lol I think repti-carpets are similar and machine washable. Its quite good as it is though, I just hoover the bits of skin and food up and he poos in his water or the bath (eugh! ) Hes very good, if hes caught short and wants to go while hes roaming he tries to get back in the viv, does his business and wanders back upstairs again! If only he could get the hang of not dragging his tail through it....

If only he could get the hang of not dragging his tail through it.... That would win him the Iguana of the Year award!

Lol yeah I swear he does it on purpose to annoy me! He skuttles up the stairs knowing hes making a mess and then stops to look round and grin at me. He also saves a little tiny bit until after Ive leared it all up

I have always stayed away form things what were leafy and green but non-edable. Don't you have problems with Don trying to munch on the fakes?
Bob has gotten a little too heavy for his own climbing style -- thinks he is still an iglet and trys to climb stuff that can't support him. Because of that, and with keeping his nails trimmed, I am going to avoid natural logs.
After watching him run around the house and porch I think that I will put shelves in the cage arranged as a flight of stairs -- he can't climb the fabric walls.

Nope, he doesnt bother with them! Yeah the shelf steps sounds like a nice idea! We foudnt hat he was having difficulty climbing when we trimmed his claws, but the plastic vine did the trick
