It looks like it may be a good start but you want to alter it a lot, it would be a good weekend project if you know what you are doing but it could turn into a great cage.
First off change the wall. What is the point of having an ig if you can’t see it most of the time? I would put in some kind of window or glass door. Check the classifieds in the local paper and look for things like glass shower doors, French doors, sliding patio doors or double hung windows.

Looks like it has great possibilities!! Yes, babies can have this much space!! Actually, it is recommended that you start your baby ig in a large space such as this and let them grow into it. Unfortunately most of us don't have that opportunity.
(You'd have to be VERY careful that there were no little holes or cracks he could crawl thru. It doesn't take much for a little guy to squeeze thru)

It could be his home for his entire life but that would be like you living in a small apartment your whole life. Take him out daily at least, even if it is just to explore another room in the house that he may have explored the day before.
Whether you can vacuum or not is dependent on so many variables -- vacuum, stair construction, ig, deapth of the carpet -- that it is one of the things that you just have to try and see.

Looks great, we considered turning our under stairs cupboard into a viv, but decided to build one instead, need the storage lol!
I saw a site once with lots of unusual ideas for viv, including a snake viv come coffee table! Not sure how the snake would like that though.
Good thinking about the vacuum, I was worried at first mine would be scared of it but he soon got used to it and now doesnt bother if I actually stick the vacuum tube in his viv and clean the floor and shelves while hes in his hammock, hes just lazy and would rather that than me make him get up! Im sure your ig would get used to it eventually.
Post some pics when yor done building the viv! ;D
