Ok, some of you know I am making Camille a new habitat during X-mas break...after thinking about it for a while, I'm thinking the final dimensions will be roughly 7.5' H X 7' L X 3' Deep. I am going to be using wood and hardware cloth. Now, my dad told me of some good hardware cloth at a loacl hardware store here, but I am concerned...but first, would it be better to get the half or quarter inch squares in the cloth? I at first thought Camille might try to get out and hurt herself with 1/2, but after rethinking, I think it might be all right...she's small...but not that small...don't know her head would even fit. But let me know about that, and also...
This hardware cloth is galvanized, AKA is covered in zinc. Is that a problem? Could that cause any problem for Camille's health down the road? If so, I could always dip the cloth in acid, and wash it off to get the zinc off of it, but I'd rather not if I don't have to ...just to save time. So let me know what you think...thanks a ton...hopefully plans will be drawn up within the next week...I'll post the file here when we make it. Thanks, and have a good day.

The hardware cloth is used all the time for ig cages. You have raised a good question though on the galvanizing on the mesh. As little as they are in true contact with the mesh this will not pose a problem for the ig. Yes...it will be climbed..but any risks are so minimal that we might as well say it doesn't exist.
1/2" will be fine. I seriously don't think even a baby ig will fit through that, but if you have any doubt at all...always go smaller.
